BLIGHTEN is a recent discovery and an instant add to wishlist, as the dark style of this boomer shooter looks great. The developer mentioned it's made in a classic DOOM style with 2D enemy and weapon sprites to complete the retro look.
I just love how actually dark it is. A lot of modern boomer shooters have quite bright and spectacular surroundings, but BLIGHTEN strips things back and puts you into a spooky horror setting. Some real creepy vibes coming off from this one - love it.
More about it from the Steam page: "After becoming trapped in a decaying research facility you must find you must navigate through the Blight ridden hallways of the facility, explore every room for resources and weapons in an extensive and highly explorable map."
