Square Enix are going back over some of their older titles to see what small improvements they can make - like hooking up Steam Cloud support.
In announcements spread across the Steam pages for Daikatana, Anachronox, Mini Ninjas, Supreme Commander 2 (plus Supreme Commander and Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance) and probably others I missed in the last day or two, they mentioned:
"As part of our ongoing efforts to celebrate and enhance the Square Enix back catalogue, we’re reviewing a number of classic titles to see where we can introduce modern quality of life improvements. One key focus has been retrofitting Steam Cloud support, allowing players to seamlessly carry their progress across multiple devices – including PC and Steam Deck."

In the same announcement they noted how it had been previously enabled for Sleeping Dogs and Just Cause 3 "with great success" (looking at SteamDB - those were 5 months ago in December 2025). It's only a few titles that have it enabled right now but they're "continuing to explore opportunities to expand these enhancements across more of the Square Enix catalogue over time".
Nice to see, as it makes playing games across multiple systems a whole lot easier, or even just a re-install on a current system. Losing progress is never fun, and Steam Cloud is free for developers to hook up it just takes a bit of time and effort to do. Only a small tweak for all the included games but appreciated.
It's an old game so it runs close to 60fps with high graphics, on Steam Deck.
Destruction mayhem! 😊
