Krush Kill 'N Destroy (KKnD) and the sequel Krush Kill 'N Destroy 2: Krossfire, two classic strategy games from the 90s are getting some major upgrades in June.

From modern retro publisher Ziggurat Interactive, they announced a partnership with a team led by series modder Andre 'IceReaper' Mohren that will bring modern online PvP multiplayer to Steam and GOG. In addition to the multiplayer features the new patches will introduce additional display resolutions, game balance improvements, improved support for mods, additional playable languages, and fixes to known issues with the previous releases.

An opt-in Open Beta for all owners of both games will begin in May 2026, with the full release of the updates scheduled for June 2026. The price will also be rising from $6.99 USD to $9.99 each.

  • Support for additional playable resolutions up to 4K
  • Improved modding support, including an update to the KKND2 map editor for compatibility with 64-bit operating systems
  • Restored original HD sound effects
  • Additional language versions playable through Steam and GOG:
    • Krush Kill ‘N Destroy Xtreme: German and French
    • Krush Kill ‘N Destroy 2: Krossfire: German, French, and more languages to be announced
  • New launchers for tweaking game settings
  • Fixes to crash bugs and other known issues

Oh, wow!

I loved this game growing up - definitely my favorite of the C&C-likes. Just the weirdness of it all is so charming.

Definitely putting that on my wishlist to keep an eye on it.
