A fresh Steam Client Beta was released for Desktop and Steam Deck, bringing more fixes for the Steam Controller and the Steam Deck.
One issue some have been seeing is double inputs when leaving the Steam Controller charging on the Puck, while also gaming with it. That should now be solved with this Beta. And on the Steam Deck, you can now configure the Track Pad locking behaviour when touching the Joysticks.
From the main Desktop changelog:
General
- Fixed streamable non-Steam games showing when "Ready to Play should include Streamable games" is toggled off
Steam Input
- Fixed an issue where Steam Controller grip thresholds were loaded incorrectly in the device calibration screen
- Fixed an issue preventing the Steam button chord configuration from being edited for the Steam Controller
- Fixed an issue with doubled input when the Steam Controller is charging on the puck
And on the Steam Deck Beta changelog these are specific to the Steam Deck:
- Fixed the "View friends list" link in the Big Picture home page opening the older non-QAM version of the friends list
- Track Pad Locking - You can now turn off the Joystick vs Trackpad Locking behavior in Settings->Controller->Details->Calibration & Advanced->Trackpad Lockout. This feature is intended to avoid accidental touches on the touchpad while using a Joystick, but it can now be turned off.

That's nice, let's hope they make more than 20 controllers next batch. Saltiness aside, I hope SC Controller gets support for the SC2, would be nice to be able to use it without Steam.

I got my SC2026 yesterday so my testing of it is limited; I do like the look and feel and several of the conmplaints I saw online regarding ergonomics with smaller hands seem unfounded at least to my grip. Also I havent had any issue with pinching of my middle finger against the triggers that others have, I guess my holding position is different. One great thing is the back buttons are so much better than the ones on the steam deck, much easier to actuate.
However my one big problem is cursor input via the trackpads in games, the cursor is active and moves in games or at least it seems to, but the drawn cursor on the screen remains fixed in one spot. This seems to be some sort of issue with Wayland; I have seen a couple of "fixes" one appears to require Libei (Tumbleweed seems to have the library but support not compliled in as nothing works); another is some tool called "extest" havent tried installing that yet. I have currently switched to an X11 session and its working.
Should note that this problem is not limited to the SC2026, it affects the original SC, and potentially other gamepads.
