As part of Sony's PlayStation State of Play showcase, Mintrocket, the team behind Dave the Diver revealed a prequel spin-off with Bancho the Chef.
This will be another genre-blending game mixing together cooking simulation with light RPG progression. You'll have to hone your skills to become a culinary master and go discover various ingredients along with managing a restaurant too. Across multiple locations including Japan, Korea, and China where you'll learn plenty of authentic dishes while you build up your reputation to unlock new techniques. It blends together story-driven missions with the craft of cooking.
Sounds like they'll easily have another hit on their hands here.

From the press release sent to GamingOnLinux: “Bancho has long been a fan-favorite character in DAVE THE DIVER, and as a somewhat mysterious personality and highly skilled chef, we knew he was deserving of his own fully realized backstory,” said Jaeho Hwang, Head of Mintrocket. “This game is special to our team for many reasons, but most of all, we are thrilled to bring another adventure into the world that our fans love so much.”

I tuned entirely out of Dave The Diver from the cooking crap. I must have been asleep or something when I picked it up, didn't realize cooking is like 90% of the game and for me that was the boring part. Oh well, plenty people loved it so this could become another hit.
Still, given the right answers, this could be a fun game...

Disclosure: While I still love cooking, I am now retired from it as a profession. It was an illuminating break from retail.
Quoting: CaldathrasSpeaking as someone who has his journeyman ticket, I have mixed feelings about this one. Will it give a realistic portrayal of the hard work and time it takes to build a successful career as a professional cook? Will players be able to take those recipes and techniques and apply them to real life? Will those same players understand that playing a video game about cooking does not make them the equivalent of someone who has actually put in the time and work to earn the right to call themselves a chef? No, it's probably not going to be a realistic portrayal of anything. I don't know why you'd expect it to be after seeing that trailer.

Even with my ticket, I have enough respect for the trade to admit that, while I have put in a lot of work and effort. I have not put in the time to truly call myself a chef.

Quoting: Purple Library GuyI hope not, that doesn't sound like very much fun.Exactly. Too much realism would make it very tedious. I'm always wondering about the people that cry about the scale in American Truck Simulator/European Truck Simulator 2 and demand a 1:1 representation of the world or wanting to go out of the truck and connect all the cables/tubes manually every time. That would definitely kill the games for me.
I'm not sure about the game – I really liked the first Cook, Serve, Delicious!, but I didn't like the cooking in Dave. At the start of the game it felt like the underwater aspect was the main focus, but when that shifted to the above ground chores I stopped playing.

I'll check it out when I next get access to WiFi. You've peeked my curiosity.
