Another classic returns - Atari and Pipeworks Studios revealed Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee Remastered, which is set to arrive November 3rd. Originally released on the Nintendo GameCube in 2002, and later the original Xbox, it's making a comeback.
It's being remade from the ground up in Unreal Engine 5. It won't be exactly the same as the original as it will have a streamlined currency-based unlock system, along with online matchmaking and native support for modern haptics. So a faithful remaster but with a few modern niceties.

From the press release: “Destroy All Monsters Melee was such an important title for the genre, allowing players to destroy the environment around them, even picking up and throwing buildings, while battling as their favorite monster,” said Lindsay Gupton, CEO of Pipeworks. “Our team had the unique opportunity to revisit our work using more modern development tools and we’ve created a release that fulfills our original vision.”
“There is a real sense of responsibility that comes with working on Godzilla, especially with a fan-favorite title like Destroy All Monsters Melee,” said Mike Mika, Chief Creative Officer of Atari. “It is only natural that Atari, as the original publisher in 2002, would partner with Pipeworks, the original developer and kaiju experts to bring their creation back to center stage – bigger, better and more destructive than ever.”
Game Highlights:
- The original 2002 Godzilla arena fighter, remastered.
- 12 Kaiju to choose from, each with a uniquely vicious moveset.
- 8 locations, including recreated real-world cities, Monster Island, and the Alien Mothership.
- Gallery items to unlock.
- Play with friends in local co-op and all-new online multiplayer.
- Remastered graphics enhance the cinematic experience of the original.
- Improved unlock system gives you the choice to unlock monsters, locations, and gallery items in any order.
- Also includes additional single-player campaigns for each kaiju.
Atari said it will cost $29.99 at release.
