The open source game engine Godot has added support for glTF 2.0, the open standard from Khronos. It's a royalty-free specification for the transmission and loading of 3D scenes and models by applications.
A fresh release of OpenMW, the open source game engine to play Morrowind has been released. There's not a huge amount of new features, but there's a lot of fixes.
OpenRA is easily one of my favourite open source projects. It allows us to play early Westwood RTS games like Red Alert and Dune 2000 in a modern engine on Linux. The latest release is a good one too.
OpenLara was pointed out to me as it's an open source game engine to run classic Tomb Raider titles on Linux, it also has a WebGL support and a demo to show it off in-browser.

I am seriously excited to try out Construct 3, as it enables creation of games without actual coding. It uses an interesting events system like in Construct 2, Fusion and other toolkits. The developers have shown the first preview with pictures of it on Linux too.

Unity 5.5 has been released as a pretty major update to this popular game engine. One interesting bit for us is that games built with 5.5 onward will only have access to the modern OpenGL system.
