KDE Plasma 6.4 has arrived bringing lots of modern enhancements to my favourite Linux desktop environment, and what's used on SteamOS / Steam Deck Desktop Mode.
KDE developer Nate Graham has written up a blog post detailing some planned changes coming to the KDE Plasma desktop, including doing away with the LTS (Long-Term Support) releases and instead extend the supported time for each release.
Work on the KDE Plasma desktop sounds like it continues to go very well, with some really important bug fixes arriving to make the experience a lot nicer. My favourite Linux desktop environment and what powers the Desktop Mode on Steam Deck.
Here's one I missed from earlier this week. KDE developer Nate Graham announced the formation of an open source consultancy company called Techpaladin Software, with their first client being Valve to continue improving the Steam Deck desktop mode which uses KDE Plasma.

A recent change was proposed last month to implement an on-by-default KDED (KDE Daemon) module that will gently ask you to donate to KDE as a pop-up on your notification system inside the KDE Plasma desktop, planned for version 6.2.
More work is ongoing for the upcoming KDE Plasma 6.1 release, and there's some fun stuff being added like the ability to sync your keyboard RGB lighting up to your Plasma accent colouring.
