Note: Article updated, as I spoke to 11 bit studios and they confirmed they no longer own it. So it seems someone else has taken the rights to the store to continue it.

A little odd news to start the day today, it seems Games Republic, the store previously owned by 11 bit studios that closed down at the end of last year is coming back online.

They never did give officially give a reason why they closed down, but it's nice to see it wasn't a permanent decision. They had some good offers and did work directly with developers as they were a legitimate store.

One possible reason was their mess-up with Civilization VI pre-orders, where it was heavily discounted by accident. They did cancel them all and refund them, so they would have had to swallow up any fees involved.

They had a reasonable affiliate scheme I used to take advantage of before my Patreon gave enough funding, and it did pay out without any hoops to go through which made me like it quite a lot.

More when I have it... Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.
