Wasteland 3 has an impressive new trailer for Gamescom

Posted by , | Views: 5,084

inXile Entertainment have shown off more of their upcoming party-based RPG Wasteland 3 at Gamescom and it's looking great.

More than a century after the bombs, Arizona is dying. The Patriarch of Colorado has promised to save it if the Desert Rangers can rescue his land from his three bloodthirsty children. In this tactical RPG the Rangers must travel North to build a new base, equip a vehicle, train recruits, explore Colorado's hostile frozen wastes, meet the locals—and decide which ones to help.

As a reminder, it's not due for a while as they pushed back the launch date so it will be available sometime in the Spring next year. It's also still confirmed to be coming to Linux. Sadly though, the Alpha is confirmed to be Windows only.

I did not like Wasteland 2, despite loving both post-apocalypse and turn based RPG-y stuff
But Wasteland 3 is supposed to have co-op so I suppose I will give it a go at some point!

I enjoyed Wasteland 2, but failed to finish it - first run, I found that my main character build was ineffective. Second run was a bit stale because it's story driven and I was sitting through so much of what I'd already covered. I just ran out of steam. That and I think I was bit fatigued by having just finished the awesome Shadowrun Returns, and subsequently the equally awesome Shadowrun Dragonfall.

Looking forward to this though. Looks incredibly slick.

You did play Hong Kong as well?

I also bought all of them and also Shadowrun Chronicles because it was 3D, but I got really disappointed when it stopped working because its developers got bankrupt and its servers were turned off (even a single player run wouldn't work).

About Wasteland 2, oddly enough, I loved the game and played a few dozen hours of it, but I also haven't got to the ending yet (paused playing it for almost an year). So it's not only me, I wonder if that happens often with people who bought this game? I am not exactly sure why I paused it, I think it was because I was sort confused of what I should do next, or too hesitant in getting to a faction commitment path.

Yep. It's a simpler RPG mechanic, if I remember correctly. I played around 9 hours of it, but again I think I'd just kind of had enough of this genre when I sat down to play, so I didn't finish that one either! And when it comes to RPGs, I'm a bit of a completionist normally!

I know this is a little off-topic, but why would the game stop working because the devs went bankrupt? I tried to run Dragonfall a couple of weeks ago and it wouldn't even start, does that have something to do with it?

As to Wasteland 2, I got my fill of it when Samsai recently did a playthough on his stream. Makes me really want to try the new one, it seems to have improved on pretty much every aspect.

Looks like the game was always-online and relied on the dev's servers to even play single-player. Oof. You can still find it on Steam, but there's no option to buy now.

Interesting song choice. Seems like they're going for a Far Cry 5 vibe.
