What have you been playing recently and what do you think about it?

It's been quite some time since we last had an open discussion about what you've all been playing recently. Let's get things going again.

We've almost finished the second month of 2020, we've had tons of Linux games that have released this year already and a huge amount more on the way. Now with the rise of game streaming, Steam Play Proton and more options appearing constantly there's never a shortage of gaming to be had.

Personally, I've been getting back into the deck-builder Faeria (Humble/Steam).

With the big recent patch, it gave me a new reason to pick it up and I had honestly forgotten just how good the gameplay is. Building the board as you go really does spice up the usual turn-based tactics, as does the single-player content that's quite plentiful. Gamepad support that was recently added has also made it more accessible than ever. Crafting a good deck of cards is always the hard part but Faeria is fun to learn.

So, over to you: what have you been playing recently and what do you think about it?

Dominions 5. Been eying it for awhile, but only recently got into it. Definitely a cult game, it's just so rich mechanically. I've generated over 20 worlds by now, haven't won a single one, because I keep finding better ways to start, and just learning stuff.
It's what I wish Total War was.

This weekend I've been playing Dark Souls 3. I also spent a lot of time playing Cuphead via RemotePlay together with a friend and also Broforce. We had a great time, although we were pretty bad.

Purple Library GuyBeen playing Civ VI, finally finished a couple of games. I dunno . . . I like it well enough, but I guess Civ just doesn't fascinate me like it used to?

Had this with Civ 5. I couldn't say anything was wrong with the game, but there was no fascination. Didn't even properly finish a single round.

Also replaying TNT Evilution addon for Doom II on high difficulty with GZDoom. Nostalgia.

Is that STALEKR mod available in English ? For us non Russian speakers.

scaineWell, thanks to g000h, I discovered that the Fate Hunters devs have moved on from the publisher they used for that game and they... recreated Fate Hunters under a new title called Dreamgate. So I bought that on Saturday and played a few hours. Great game, but still a bit rough around the edges in terms of balance. It's basically a Fate Hunters reskin at the moment, but they have plans to extend it significantly.

Played a bit of 7 Days to Die on stream with Sin and Ehvis. That was fun. And thanks to Sin, I'm also now playing Terraria again! So much depth to that game, it's actually kind of overwhelming.

Finally, I finished Starcom Nexus. At least, it's as finished as I care to play. Great game, fun space battles, but the lack of a useful map makes the final 5 hours or so a bit of a grind and frankly, I gave up caring to play on, although I still had some un-finished missions. Recommended, but it's shame about that final quarter.

But wait , there's more
If you haven't already , check out Thorium and Tremor mods for Terraria
They both add new enemies , NPCs , items and biomes.
And I think they work together to boot.

Bought Stoneshard this weekend and played a bit. Looks like a good game so far, or at least would be after it leaves Early Access.

Also in the last month spend notable amount of time in:
-Neverwinter Nights 1 - a classical crpg.
-Majesty Gold HD - a real-time strategy "with indirect control".
-Civilization VI - a famous turn-based strategy.
-Magic: The Gathering Arena - em, a "digital collectible online card game", I think.
-King's Bounty: Crossworlds - a tactical RPG, with HoMM-like battles (well, the first King's Bounty was a forerunner of first HoMM...).

Played some Moebius: Empire Rising, tried Armello, then went back to Slay the Spire, but none of them really kept me entertained. It's time to try something new. Fortunately, my Steam library is still well stocked with new things to try.

I finally played Firewatch.

And it's awesome in so many regards, but not when it comes to length and ending.

Edit: I played it using the Steam Controller as it is explicitly supported.
Anyone else hated the controls?
