What one game would blow your mind if it came to Linux & SteamOS?

By - | Views: 102,693
It's question time today here on GOL, so sit down and come have a chat. Today I ask a very simple question: what game would literally blow your mind if it came to Linux & SteamOS?

I've asked myself this very same question and while it looks like a simple question, the truth is that it's actually quite difficult to narrow it down.

There's a fair amount of great games we don't have and that's probably a heavy understatement. There's a good 10-20 games I badly want on Linux and narrowing them down was a bit of a task.

I think my all time wish right now would be: Fallout New Vegas.

A game I actually own, as it's one of the left-overs from back when I was dual-booting. I can't bring myself to load up Windows to play it. My Windows hard drive doesn't even fit in my PC case, so it becomes a nuisance to actually load Windows any way now.

Why Fallout New Vegas? I've been a Fallout fan since a young age and I think I've actually played all of them now. I love the world, the style of it and the gameplay is engrossing as hell. It was my favourite of the series by far.

Starcraft 2. I stopped using windows before Legacy of the Void, and I really want to buy/play that campaign, but of course not until it's on Linux.

i think some game from EA being launched at same time for windows and linux would be a great milestone, EA, Ubisoft, Bethesda and Activision are some really big publishers that don't have any game to linux. Also LoL should have a linux version... common it's riot's only game... they can do it.

Reflex would blow my mind in terms of excitement.

But in terms of a game that I would never expect to get Linux support, then anything from Blizzard would probably blow my mind.

It depends, if you want gaming to get serious on Linux, then we need Battlefield, titanfall 2 and Call Of Duty, this is what sells platforms, we need native optimised versions not just ports with fluctuating performance.

This is pretty much true. I love reading comments from any linux related article on major sites, the first few posts are usually complete shills instantly s****ing on linux, mostly with complete fabrications / lies ... Yeah Linux looks like old windows.

What sells platforms is exclusives, Valve know this but don't want to alienate their windows customer base. I don't blame them. I really would like a really good FPS that pushes my hardware. Can you imagine how many would rush out and install or buy steamos boxes if Half-Life 3 released as a steamos exclusive for 6 months ?
