I haven't delved into the javascript, but a quick look at the PHP suggests that the button should reveal another textbox to enter an author_id. At the moment, clicking "Advanced search" submits the form and directs you to https://www.gamingonlinux.com/index.php?forums=all&q=<search term> (note that it doesn't include module=search_forum) which simply returns you to the front page.
