Title: Steam downloading changed?

I'm not sure if I missed it mentioned on a recent update for the steam client but I've noticed the way it downloads games has changed slightly, I just did a reinstall of Serious Sam 3 & the base game downloaded & installed ready to play, then the DLC downloaded afterwards, I'm pretty sure Steam used to download everything at the same time, has anyone else noticed this or am I just the last person to know about it?
