Not exactly news... I am always surprised at what bubbles up as outrage when it (and similar practices like F2P) has been going strong for years already.

But the good news might be that more people realize how poorly they are treated by these companies (just like at a larger scale Facebook, Apple, Microsoft and the like do), and play/develop more FOSS games running on Linux.

Well it was news to me because I outright refused any game that comes with micro transactions or pay2win. Also just bought Linux games for years. So I really didn't know how bad the situation is already.
