The [Arzopa Z1FC](https://www.arzopa.com/products/z1fc-16-1-fhd-144hz-portable-monitor) seems a popular choice, and gets a [Wirecutter recommendation](https://www.nytimes.com/wirecutter/reviews/best-portable-monitor/). It's a good price (about €120). I'd be willing to pay a bit more for something better or more flexible, but probably don't want to go above €200. The 16" screen size is fine, although 18" would also be nice.
Does anyone have any suggestions, or is the Z1FC pretty much my best bet in this price range?
I have a few questions about specs and alternative options:
As this is 16:9 and 1920x1080 compared to the Deck's 16:10 and 1280x800, does that mean I'll have to keep adjusting game resolutions if I switch between the built-in screen and this monitor?
I presume that either the Deck will have to work a bit harder to output 1920x1080 (with possibly worse performance in games), or I'd have to let the monitor scale the input (with possibly worse quality as it's a non-integer scaling)?
Would a 2560x1600 monitor be preferable because I could then have an exact 2x scaling of the Deck's 1280x800 resolution, while still having the option of running at higher resolution if the Deck can handle it? For example, the Arzopa Z1RC is 2560x1600. But, it only supports 60Hz refresh rate.
How important is the maximum refresh rate anyway? The Z1FC supports 144Hz, but I doubt I'm going to be getting that out of the Deck anyway!
And, would it be better to have a monitor that supports VRR/FreeSync? The Arzopa Z1FC doesn't have this, but some other models do.
I'd prefer to be able to connect with just one USB-C cable, and also have power passthrough so I can just connect the monitor to power and have that also power the Steam Deck (which I know at least the Z1FC does).
It would also be great if I could connect a mouse and keyboard through the monitor, but I'm not sure if there are models with enough USB ports, so maybe I need to be getting a portable dock for the Steam Deck anyway?
Thank you in advance for any tips!
