Yeah I may have done a boo-boo and accidently uploaded the new designs header info which removed the icons the current site uses...OOOOOPS.
muntdefems 7 May 2013
I uploaded a new (less stretched) image for the Humble Double Fine Bundle article. I hope Liam doesn't mind my meddling...

That's fine, sometimes I just can't find a good pic!

I'm thinking for submitted articles it may be an idea to allow us to save edits made to them before they are published.
So that you can accept it later, if for example we've already had a good few news posts in one day so we don't clog up the news in one day.

Thoughts?

I like the idea. It could also be useful as a way of saving drafts of our own articles if inspiration runs out in the middle of writing one. ^_^

HELP!!! I'm an idiot and I accidentally published and article I was just beginning to write. I've tried to delete it but I can't! Can anybody erase it?

I'm so sorry... :(

Edit: I've tried to delete it via the Admin CP, but there seems to be some bugs with the Article Manager. Whichever category I choose, it shows the fifth page of articles, and it doesn't let you navigate them to get access to the latest ones.

Edit: After struggling with it a little while I realized I could just disable the article, so I did that.

Its all a learning process ;), i will sort those bugs out and I have a new idea as well - if you deactivate your own article have a queue for them?
Liam Dawe 9 May 2013
Okay well the issue has been fixed, starts on page 1 now :P
muntdefems 19 May 2013
I've discovered a bug in the Editors Picks managing system. I was doing some minor editing on my latest article, which had been picked by someone (thanks to whomever did it ^_^), and when I pressed the Edit button I obtained an error message stating that there were already 3 articles in the Editors Pick list, even though the one I was editing was one of them!

The only workaround I found is unmarking it as an Editors Pick and editing it again to mark it back, but I think the system should not produce this error when editing a picked article.
Liam Dawe 20 May 2013
Sorry that was  bug on my list to fix, it's fixed on the new website :)

I finally got around to make a cron job that expires editor picks after two weeks, so feel free to pick a new one when any expire editor folk.

I have added the "Remove Formatting" button next to source view in the editor (the second to last button) to remove nasty formatting when pasting from wherever.

Makes cleaning up articles so much quicker.

Would it be possible to have an option to upload small attachments to forum posts?

It would be possible yeah but would take me a little while.

A new rule to follow and non-negotiable, no links in article taglines, avoid any bbcode if you can guys (apart from an image of course if you don't upload one!) I want taglines to just be a short introduction to articles and nothing more, also please make sure if you accept an article from someone else that the article doesn't miss info from the tagline, like links if they put them only in the tagline which I keep finding and people across the web complaining our articles don't have links :(.

I will soon update editor text to make a note of this and on the submission page for users and guests too.

Part of my small steps towards making everything fit properly and be consistent across articles.

Sir, yessir! :P

Cool cool. Do we need to go through and trim stuff out of old ones too?

I just went and did that on my articles. Man, do I truly like to put links everywhere! :dizzy:

If you would be so kind, it's not currently a major issue it's a when you get time but don't leave it too long kind of deal.
Hamish 27 May 2013
Looks like I broke that rule only once, and that was on the old site. Fixed now.
Liam Dawe 27 May 2013
Thanks guys, also please make sure you use the tagline image uploader rather than linking to other sources, especially when it's a news submission as the images people link to may only be up for a short time on whatever host they grabbed it from. Don't want articles to end up with broken images.
