Running Anno 1404 on proton
DMG Oct 28, 2018
Anyone tested Anno 1404 on proton? I can not find any solution, how to play it on Linux.

CPU Brand: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-6700HQ CPU @ 2.60GHz
Operating System Version: Linux Mint 19 Tara (64 bit)
Video Card: NVIDIA Corporation GeForce GTX 960M/PCIe/SSE2
Video Card Driver Version: 4.6.0 NVIDIA 390.77
Proton version 3.16-3 Beta

Tested:
WINEPREFIX="/home/$USER/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/33250/pfx"
winetricks d3dx9

No changes...

Tested even:
winetricks d3dx9_43
Still nothing...

Tested with lutris, but installation script never ending.
Maybe, someone here can help me with solution?

Good day dear sir,

You gave me an idea which made it work for me with the latest Proton Beta (probably for everything else too, but don't take my word for that). Instead of plain `winetricks` with DirectX I suggest installing the supplied DirectX (don't get why it doesn't install it at first start-up like with other games, tbh):

WINEPREFIX="/path/to/steam/steamapps/compatdata/33250/pfx" wine "/path/to/steam/steamapps/common/Anno 1404/DirectX/DXSETUP.exe"

If you have Venice installed the `AppID` is `33350` instead of `33250`.

Good luck, hope this helps!

Does not help either. Maybe I should update my driver version to 396...
