Maybe, someone here can help me with solution?
You gave me an idea which made it work for me with the latest Proton Beta (probably for everything else too, but don't take my word for that). Instead of plain `winetricks` with DirectX I suggest installing the supplied DirectX (don't get why it doesn't install it at first start-up like with other games, tbh):
WINEPREFIX="/path/to/steam/steamapps/compatdata/33250/pfx" wine "/path/to/steam/steamapps/common/Anno 1404/DirectX/DXSETUP.exe"
If you have Venice installed the `AppID` is `33350` instead of `33250`.
Good luck, hope this helps!
