[SOLVED] Wine fails to start any applications
mindbound Jul 7, 2023
I am not able to run any program using Wine as of recently on Arch Linux. Every time I try running a Windows program, it fails with the following output:

wine: created the configuration directory '/home/mindbound/.wine'

After this, several explorer.exe processes remain in memory at 100% CPU use. Killing those yields the following output: https://spacebin-1-c5110338.deta.app/share/zA1uFN

Removing any old prefixes doesn't seem to affect anything. I have installed the latest versions of wine (8.11 from multilib), winetricks (20220411-1 from multilib), and wine-mono (8.0.0-1 from extra). Reinstalling any of these also has no effect.

Since all Proton versions are also failing for me and Proton is, of course, Wine-based, I'm starting to think if this issue and my still-unresolved Proton issue could possibly be related (since the other components, namely Steam and GPU drivers, seem to work fine on their own with native games and other applications).
