Do you get penguin gifts due to using Linux?
Pengling May 26
Just a random question for everyone, since this is something I experience every now and then myself and I'm always grateful;

Does anyone else receive penguin-related gifts every so often, as a result of being a Linux user?

And, if so, have you been given any particularly interesting or unusual penguin items over the years? Or, alternatively, have you picked any up for yourself?

Please share!

I did recently receive a very nice portrait of myself dressed in a penguin suit, doodled on the whiteboard next to my desk at the office. Does that count?

Oh and my wife just made me a little plaster cast figure of a penguin bathing in a coffee mug.

Not really gifts, no. I got a nice penguin plushie and mousepad when I bought a Tuxedo notebook, though!

as a smarter guy likely dont get good friends around myself. Mostly virtual friends (from internet or so around the globe) i don't get gifts i dont bother too. "my pc, my wife, my cat" basic life style.

It's not specifically due to me being a Linux user (I just like penguins), but for Christmas my partner and her siblings got me a adoption pack from an aquarium which lets me feed a (or possibly multiple) penguin(s). We have to wait until bird flu restrictions have been lifted in the surrounding area, for obvious reasons, but it promises to be an interesting experience.

Almost nobody I know cares, understands, or knows that I use Linux. A computer is just a computer to them. So no.

Though, if I had to pick a favorite kernel/OS mascot, MINIX takes the cake. And I do have a Raccoon plushie lying around

I feel like Pengling and Liam have these pajamas:

I've got the dinosaur one myself. 👀
For being an openSUSE user, since I can remember, I occasionally get chameleon gifts.

But one time my GF gifted me a "Meet and Greet with Penguins". Which was awesome but for sure related to Linux if you ask me :D Anyway it was a very nice day and I kinda like Penguins regardless of using Linux or not.

But the funniest Linux related gift I ever received was a Windows license by two of my colleagues via the mail. Send by "the openSUSE Board". I do not recall the letter exactly but it was hilarious :D
Quoting: Liam DaweI devote my time and energy into building a linux gaming related blog/website, but ultimately, I can never be happy because no one ever gives me penguin gifts. My life will never be complete. But, in the mean time, I'll get myself this tattoo until my life becomes complete. :'( :'(
Fixed that for you.

Last year, I received two penguin gifts. One of them was a plushie my mother got from work, and the other is a very well-made homemade crochet penguin doll, courtesy of the mother of one of my mother's friends.

Here's a photo of the latter:

P.S.: ciinet.org is my family's website. We do not sell your information.

I have a Christmas jumper with penguins on it, but apparently that was just a coincidence.

I do not, I wonder how many people I know who care that I use Linux actually know about the penguin iconography
I just bought myself a penguin gift..... I saw this at the OpShop yesterday and it came home with me.......

Well I found another Penguin........ This time a Christmas Penguin to add to my massive collection of two Christmas decorations......

All three of my Christmas decorations........
