There's an argument to be made that trying to filter content based on how offensive it is defeats the purpose of archiving. Part of preservation is ensuring that we learn from our mistakes. If some shocking political website with asinine views doesn't get archived, that doesn't necessarily make them go away, rather it just makes the dumb things they say harder to retrieve and therefore more difficult to criticize.

True enough. As E.B. Hall once wrote, summarizing Voltaire, "I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it". Though I was mostly thinking, why archive literal p*** when there's already so much of it out there?

As I recall, Liam asked them to exclude GOL initially. But then they didn't stop doing that when Liam subsequently asked for that repeatedly.

Correct. I won't get into why, as I don't want the issue dragged up again. But it was at my request. I tried over years to get it reversed, again at my request, and this time they finally did.
