Getting GOG.com to support Linux

By liamdawe, 10 June 2012 at 11:04 am UTC (25 Comments)
A reader sent me an email to get us to bring attention to a wishlist on gog.com to ask them to support Linux on the games they already have that support Linux. I don't usually bring attention to this like petitions as I have yet to see any work, but since this one already has a few thousand "votes" and is on their actual website...

SpaceVenture Kickstarter still struggling

By whizse, 8 June 2012 at 8:50 pm UTC (0 Comments)
Kickstarter has been pretty good to what was once called a dying genre, adventure games. Both the Doublefine Adventure and the Leisure Suit Larry remake had no trouble getting funded. Unfortunately this has not yet translated to success for another project, the all-but-in-name-only Space Quest game aptly titled [url=http://www...

Matt Williams emailed me (sorry it's a bit late, another which got pushed back in my emails by junk!) to let me know Voxeliens is having a Linux port! The game itself is a 3D remake of space invaders with destructable voxel terrain, sound cool? Check this video out below! Stop using the .info domain!

By liamdawe, 7 June 2012 at 2:27 pm UTC (0 Comments)
To everyone who visits us using the address www,gamingonlinux.com you may ignore this article, this is for people very oldschool who have been with us for sometime! The .info domain name www.gamingonlinux.info will expire on the 5th of July, so it is time to update yourself to the correct domain! I will not be renewing it (no point spending out on two when ...

Rotion on Desura!

By liamdawe, 6 June 2012 at 8:50 am UTC (0 Comments)
A really neat looking indie game has popped up on Desura called Rotion! Rotion is a challenging, addictive game where the aim is to clear shapes by getting to the middle and popping them. Relax in free play and Single, explore the Campaign, play against your friends in Splitscreen, or take on Survival and see how long you can last...

I get it - open source is better!

By liamdawe, 5 June 2012 at 4:55 pm UTC (23 Comments)
So in the aftermath of my rather hastily put together article about Steam coming for Linux, I thought I should balance it out. After the masses of comments (hey it was a lot for us here!) and chatting to Cheese, I have been educated! So, free and open source games are preferable yes but as we know they are not always an option, we won't be seeing the likes of Left For Dead 2 from Valve having any kind of source code release for example...

Carmageddon for Linux needs another 70 grand

By whizse, 4 June 2012 at 7:59 pm UTC (11 Comments)
The Kickstarter for Carmageddon: Reincarnation quickly reached the funding goal of $400 000. Unfortunately the bar for Linux and Mac ports of the game was set considerably higher, at $600 000...

Steam really is coming for Linux!

By liamdawe, 4 June 2012 at 5:41 pm UTC (99 Comments)
So I much like the next guy love to bash Phoronix for the over-hype and super idiocy of Michaels "reporting" but one thing he is not wrong about - Steam on Linux. So I will honestly hold my hands up and put my foot in my mouth on this one. Recently he published an email from a reader of his spouting again Steam is coming for Linux, well I would also like to today show you something of a reply I received from the man himself...
