It has been a while since we officially spoke to Feral Interactive about their Linux ports, with the last time being in June 2014. It’s time to get reacquainted and see where things stand right now.
So it looks like after Vulkan for desktop and mobile, the web may be getting a low-level API for interactions with the GPU. They are calling it Obsidian right now (temporary name) and they state it's not a specification just yet, as they are looking to gather feedback.
Race Online is a fun little 2D racer that reminds me of my days gaming on Amiga. It's in Early Access and it just had a huge overhaul. Don't be fooled by the name, it's not an online-only game.
We saw signs of RPG Maker MV coming to Linux early last year, but now it's official. RPG Maker MV now has a Linux version and it can export Linux games.
I am a massive fan of 'Avorion' as this Early Access space sandbox has a lot going for it and it just got a major update. I am also considering setting up a GOL server for it!
I was sent a link to Eitr, as it's an action RPG with some really fantastic art and fun looking combat. I think you will like the look of this too and it's due for release sometime this year.
Croteam are being awesome as usual, as Serious Sam HD: The First Encounter should get the Fusion update that includes Linux and Vulkan support early next week on Monday or Tuesday.
Sumoman is confirmed to be coming to Linux and after watching the trailer I'm officially sold on it. We do have a great variety of platformers, but the physics at play here looks hilarious.
