Just recently, Valve updated Counter-Strike 2 to entice players to keep coming back with a new permanent weekly mission system. Additionally, a just released update improves the game on Linux with Wayland.

For the new weekly mission system you'll get one mission each week, which will give you some bonus XP. The mission can be seen and accessed via the Main Menu and Play Menu. Along with that update that landed on May 8th, Valve also added in a bunch of new community maps across Competitive, Casual and Deathmatch.

With the update that came May 12th, if you're on Wayland / Linux there's also a nice bug fix noted "Various fixes for running on Linux with SDL_VIDEODRIVER=wayland". Plus "Various crash fixes and stability improvements" for smoother gameplay.

CS2 is still the most played game on Steam. With a 24 hour concurrent player peak of 1,530,261. More than double Dota 2, which is the next most popular game.
