In addition to releasing a new Beta series recently, NVIDIA have now put up driver version 570.181 as the latest recommended stable driver for Linux.

Here we go again though, we get a one-liner vague changelog. Are you ready for this? The improvements noted are:

  • Minor bug fixes and improvements.

When this happened previously, NVIDIA stealthily added support for a newer GPU. The time after with another vague changelog, I speculated that it was possibly for unrevealed security issues — which turned out to be correct when NVIDIA later announced some more security flaws. So it's entirely possible we may get another security bulletin sometime soon. As always, GamingOnLinux will let you know when we have any details of that or anything else.

In related news: NVIDIA are working on a "general optimization" for VKD3D / DirectX12 games on Linux.
