Dear supporters and players of the fheroes2 project, the open source reimplementation of Heroes of Might and Magic 2 for modern platforms!

Today we’re excited to present a new version of the fheroes2 engine - 1.1.11 This release includes several major changes and many smaller but important updates.

First of all, map makers can now set any spells in Mage Guilds within Towns and Castles. This allows precise control of available spells and enables truly unique maps.

Additionally, map makers can ban specific spells in Mage Guilds so that they never appear, offering new ways of balancing the gameplay.

Secondly, map makers can select which monsters will appear in the Random Monster objects. Previously these objects generated completely random creatures, but now you can narrow down the selection - for example, to shooters only. This provides more control without reducing map replayability.

During battles, the battle queue now highlights monsters with an outline when you hover the mouse over them, showing the order of their turns. It’s a small but helpful improvement when you're unsure of the turn order.

Among other UI changes, the team added icons for the Monster of the Week and Monster of the Month event dialogs, and the monster upgrade cost is now shown in the upgrade dialog.

In total, over 40 issues have been fixed since the last release.

We hope you enjoy this upgraded version of the engine, and we thank you for your continued support of the project!

Don't forget, that you also need to grab the data from GOG.com which it requires to run. You can find the fheroes2 project on the GitHub page.
