Quoting: [email protected]Hmm quality issues too, so how many people are there playing it?

I bought Ballistic Overkill based on the opinion here but could only get 3 games with players in the 2 months I've owned it.

Really i get into full games all the time i jacket the game in because i am really really bored of the same three maps being in rotation.

A small note about affiliate links. It's a way for GOG to partner with various sites. If user comes to GOG through the affiliate link, GOG pays some money to the partner site. Same logic as how most ads work, except more direct. So it's a good way to give some support to GOL by simply clicking that link.

A number of sites have such arrangement, for example https://scummvm.org (see GOG logo on the right there). So if you ever visit them, click it :)

Quoting: wvstolzingIs it my delusional perception, or have companies really stepped up this giveaway thing recently? I've lost count of how many games I added to my collection this year, from giveaways. I guess it's an efficient advertising strategy. Maybe.

If you're a heathen double-booter like me, by the way, ubisoft is currently giving away Assassin's Creed 4 (which is a very good game, by the way). Earlier on they gave away Watchdogs.

You haven't played "To The Moon"?! That's absolutely inexcusable, go get it and play! A rare gem with pretty simple but charming graphics and lovely music. Not everyone likes it, have to admit, but same could be said about any game. It's important not to "oversell" a title as it happened to me with Undertale. I had my expectations raised way too high so in the end it was not that exciting at all. But I would cautiously assume that if one likes romantic anime, "To The Moon" is a must play, it has all the required ingredients. Of course, I'll get "Finding Paradise" as well.

This is a shame. :( DOI is my favorite Linux native FPS hands down. But lately it's been giving me nothing but headaches. I recently switched to Ubuntu 17.10 and it simply would not work, would not even execute program.

I thought it was my Mesa drivers alone at first so I downgraded them to padoka stable ppa from the regular padoka ppa, as sometimes the bleeding edge drivers can have issues, and it still would not start. Then I downgraded back down to Ubuntu 16.04.3 and it worked fine on that. So I'm thinking DOI doesn't like 17.10's newer default kernel.

Also, the dreadful loading times they have yet to fix make me want to wipe my exterior with a live, very upset porcupine. What is the deal with that? By the time I load into the game I have to either wait for a while to join in or the match is nearly over. Sheesh!

With that said, I still love this game and I hope that the devs don't drop the ball and hopefully they give us the 64-bit upgrade and squash these bugs and niggles in the near future. A man can dream eh?

Maybe they just realized how big the interest for this box was.
So they want to make something big and don't want to release "just another Android-gaming console"

There isn't any problem in the game with playing with other people.

ARK: Survival Evolved works again on Linux, water still broken on some maps
By dvd, 15 December 2017 at 9:56 am UTC

When this game was first advertised i wanted to buy it, as i like games with a survival aspect. Thankfully i didn't, it seems like it's always severely bugged. Also, I think the 60-100€ price tag seems way too high, considering you can get games of this kind for ~20€.

Quoting: loggeNot sure if the 1541 was also produced with the "Push-Down" mechanism that turned down towards the pusher, but my 1541 (was maybe a 1541C?) had already a latch that turned sideways down. Can't give you a pic, because it broke down some years earlier (maybe 20?), so I now just have a 1541-II at hands.
The first 1541 had a push down mechanism.
The 1541 is a direct descendant of the 1540. The 1540 was the first with a crappy serialised IEEE-488 bus, intended for the VIC-20. The VIC-20 run at a pace of about 10% higher than a C64, so they introduced the 1541 with a lower serial bus clocking speed.
Personally I only had a CBM8050 which had 2 dedicated 6502 class cpus: 1 (a 6501) was dedicated to reading, writing and stepping the head (multiple steps per track, they used 77 tracks on a single density that could store 1MB of data more reliable than the HD floppies on a pc), and programming the writing clock frequency (lower write speeds at the center to de constant density).
THe other (6502) was dedicated to fileserving, and could also run applications from floppy. They had a shared memory mailbox system to coordinate communications.
The 1540/1541 used about the same code, but running on a single cpu.
The 1540/1541 was the first to use PC floppy drive mechanics I think... Because at that time there really was no "buy a floppy drive". A 3" hardcase floppy was even more common than 3.5" for instance.
Harddisks at that time adhered to the SMD standard... Of which I had 3... My SUN 2 had a 19" 4U high harddisk :-). I even played with an DEC RM05 replaceable harddisk once to write drivers for minix.
How did I get here? My god... I am so old I am getting senile. Sorry.
