Tyranny gets a massive patch, an event pack and has an expansion teased

Quoting: buenaventura

Quoting: buenaventuraSounds awesome, too bad I do not have the CPU for it :< minimum req is quite beefy actually. For no reason. I wish they used infinity engine.

Really? You must have a pretty old CPU. I played Pillars of Eternity (same engine) on a 1.9Ghz Intel i5 laptop from 4 years ago, with a weak HD4000 iGPU and was able to play it fine. The laptop ran pretty hot, but was otherwise Ok.

Their engine is MUCH more visually attractive than the old infinity engine (I've been playing the enhanced editions recently)...it's really very pretty. There's no need to look back!

I have
AMD quadcore A8-6410 ("up to 2.4 GHZ" but according to cpufreq-util actually never above 2,00)
Mullins Radeon "R5 M240" weirdly named 1gb VRAM graphics card
8gb RAM

You would think that I could play PoE, and I did play it some, but man is it laggy and shitty and slow, I can't stand it. I bought BG:EE and experienced the INSTANT transitions and unlaggy movement etc. and I just could not go back to 20 second interruptions and swooping around with the choppy camera in PoE. I really loved the game and tried alot to play, but I will just wait ca. 5 years until I buy a new computer I guess :<. The main attraction for me was the writing, so I would be happy if I could play it in infinity engine, same with Tyranny and Torment Numenera also. I wish someone does a "demake" of those into IE honestly, or something. They only need the words.

I hope I am not being an ass when I say this , but , has anyone ever made a "demake" before ?

I have seen older games re-made in the engines of newer games as a tribute (Utlima made in Neverwinter 1 for example) but have not heard of things going backwards.

A look at ‘Solaroids: Prologue’, an evolution of the classic Asteroids
By kiates, 16 June 2017 at 2:30 pm UTC

Liam, thanks for taking a look and for your honesty about the pacing. It is far from complete and this kind of direct feedback is what I am seeking to improve the experience. Mind you, it is not a twin stick shooter, and I have to be careful not to overwhelm the player, I also get comments that it is too hard for many. As such I may introduce two or more difficulty modes to cater to those that are already skilled "asteroids style" players while not alienating those potential budding pilots. You may try the current free play mode which unlocks all power ups and has formidable threats during and at the end of each round.

I have already started adjusting the ramp up of the default "campaign" mode to introduce some more threats earlier on. I think you just missed the updates before playing and there are many more to come. I have a lot of enemies planned, but as I am the sole developer and working part-time on the project it will take a bit.

I would love to find a cross platform audience that sees enough potential in Solaroids to engage with me in the Steam Community Hub to help guide its direction in early access and beyond.

Thank you again for giving it a go!

The first of the free Dying Light DLC will add new enemies

I was kicking myself for buying this game at full price a week before it went on sale, but I must say, it was well worth the 60$ and I would say even more so at the 24$ price point it is at now. Best zombie game I think I have ever played, and with all the free upcoming DLC I couldn't really ask for more.

From what I know of the game so far (mainly from the updates on Steam and a bit of your gameplay a few months ago), I'm surprised they waited this long to add a FoV slider. The devs seem to be the types to be on top of that sort of thing.

I'm very interested in the game, and this only helps. It's got a lot going for it, like non-fantasy basebuilding and the vehicle assembly stuff.

Quoting: razing322) Germany ? The heck is happening ? I thought only games with Nazi imagery got banned (for obvious reasons)

The obvious reason being a pathetic attempt at hiding their shameful history from public view. Remember nazi in game are always the villans so there is no chance of the game glorifying it :P

Sorry but have to disagree.
I met germans and I think they apologize too much.
What the Nazis did was a horrible atrocity , but I don;t think Germany today is Germany then.
How many horrible things were done in Europe , Africa , Asia since then yet Germany is held up as the example for human wrong doing. Doesn't seem fair in my mind.

I'm not saying blame Germans today for what happened then, I'm saying censoring media because they contain bits of history your not proud of is a dangerous and slippery slope. Instead own up to it, tech that it's bad and *why* it's bad.

Don't forget that the game has been priced at $60 for how long? A long time. Nothing truly wrong with that, but it could be a reason why the DLC is already paid for.

Are you saying you bought it before it worked on Linux? I don't understand why you say this game is being "added" to a list of games you'll "never" play. Clearly, the developer never said they gave up.

I've been, I guess, medium interested in this game for the past several years. If it came out to Linux, I would strongly consider buying and playing it for the reason Liam mentioned: 3D RPG's on Linux are rare.

True indeed. I don't feel like begging on my knees for things that happened ages ago. Obviously it's important not to forget what happened, but I guess the best we can do is fighting this kind of things never, ever to happen again. Just like right now with the party called AFD ("Alternative für Deutschland" ) which attracted a lot of right-wing totalitarianisms and neo nazis.

So in the end life is about moving on, learn from the mistakes of the past and try to avoid them. Never get stuck in mind in the past!

PS: Yes, this kind of censorship sucks.

The big SteamOS update that drops AMDGPU-PRO in favour of Mesa has left beta
By Ardje, 16 June 2017 at 1:27 pm UTC

Quoting: ZapporI guess SteamOS uses RADV now then? Did SteamOS have Vulkan support before?
Steamos had vulkan support in the previous release: it was nvidia driver release 367 something.
It was incapable of handling vulkan on any steam machine though...
The worst part about this news is that I missed it, and I packaged 381.09 for steamos myself and gave it a higher precedence than valves repo, so I never noticed that steamos *stable* released a newer nvidia driver version: 381.22, which fixes all vulkan problems on steam machines.

This was my take away from this too. It's disappointing that it's delayed, but it's wonderful to hear a tone of commitment in the developer's voice.

There is no real need for a demo if you use steam. You can refund the game for any reason if you haven't played longer than 2 hours. So enough time for trying the game.

That's a good point, thanks
