I'll be getting it from Microsoft cause it's Play Anywhere. Play Anywhere keeps my Xbox Series X from being useless with modern games. Yes it means using Windows for the PC version, but I paid for a Windows license. May as well use it when needed.

News - Valve rolls out SteamVR 2.10 with quick recenter, reduced controller and physics jitter and Linux fixes

I have VR Head Mounted Display, no VR controllers though. I did play quite a bit Project Wingman with Logitecth 3D Pro joystick. It was even enjoyable!
VR does benefit from better hardware for sure. I tried playing no man sky and it was not a fun experience for me.
Many games that support keyboard and mouse, may not support it in VR.
I have bad choice of VR though. Its supported by Monado project, HP G2 v1.
Monado is using OpenXR a lot, I wonder if I will benefit from changes.
3D Video content though...

News - Fight off a planet-wide fungal catastrophe in the upcoming co-op shooter Mycopunk

Played the demo and enjoyed it, but goddam, those graphics are terrible. And despite the frame-limiter set to 60, it cooked my PC at 140+, and the damn PC nearly over-heated!

Anyway, good game, although the fights felt slightly grindy, and I didn't quite grasp the whole "shoot one gun to build up ammo in the other" until about 30 minutes in!

I think I'll end up grabbing it, but in the meantime, I'm going to check out Deadzone: Rogue (https://store.steampowered.com/app/3228590/Deadzone_Rogue/), which launched a few weeks ago, and appears to be... well, let's just say "very similar", but with much-better looking graphics!

I was tempted the last time round because, I mean value, right? Since then I've listened to the Backpage podcast episode (https://open.spotify.com/episode/7l3Q8iXydrZse7dY7GsM0J) and I know to steer clear. Not because it's not a bargain or that the games are bad, but because I now understand the amount of hours I would need to invest for these games to make sense. I'm not made of time!

Who looks to neoliberalism and thinks let's financialize things even more? Gaming hasn't been improved by the integration of gambling and microtransactions, or by industry consolidation and layoffs. And now there are these clowns trying to get the crypto cult of deregulated finance to capitalise on the popularity of the steam deck. I hope they will run out of marks.

News - Valve rolls out SteamVR 2.10 with quick recenter, reduced controller and physics jitter and Linux fixes
By Corben, 6 May 2025 at 7:59 pm UTC

Haven't used SteamVR much recently. I'm currently mostly playing my three standard rhythm VR games (BS, SR, PW) and those work great with Monado.

Yet I do have some issues currently, e.g. I'm on Ubuntu 24.04 with Gnome, which doesn't support VR with wayland. I also wasn't able to get Monado up and running with 1 basestation and my OG Vive. Which I still use from time to time to play Elite: Dangerous. But as I've seen the performance difference between Steam VR and Monado, I wanted to switch for that too.

I will get back to using SteamVR though, according to SadlyItsBradly's tweet¹, Steam Link VR seems to come to Linux soon! And then I might even get a Quest 3. I've tested Steam Link VR on Windows before, and damn, it's really cool. Wireless VR is just awesome.

Regarding Monado, or other non Steam VR programs, check out the Linux VR Adventure Database². It's like ProtonDB but for VR Games and the tools to run VR on Linux (Steam VR, Monado, ALVR, WiVRn)

News - Junkyard Space Agency is a 'scrappier, multiplayer version' of Kerbal Space Program

It looks like they mixed aspects from KSP and Space Engineers
.
Somewhere in the middle, yes. We felt like KSP's "stick parts vertically or horizontally", even if with symmetry, limits quite a lot what shapes one can give to the spacecraft. On the other hand, Space Engineers' voxel grids make everything... well, voxel-looking. And there mass and fuel isn't much of a concern.

We are trying a unique approach in which craft are built with platonic solids. For instance, the "Venture" spacecraft (green bug-like looking) is created by combining a truncated octahedron, which makes for a single-pilot cabin, with a hexagonal prism for the cargo bay. The station hub section (the "sphere" with the docking ports) is an icosahedron, while the trunk and the branches are a combination of elongated prisms and various other solids.

The nice part of it is that with just few primitive shapes having the same edge size, and a combination of solids, very interesting builds can be created, while looking plausible from engineering PoV.

So, players will be able to design the hulls of the spacecraft based on the internal volume and purpose (pressurized/unpressurized, etc). The build mechanic is not there yet though, now the craft are all pre-made. Building is coming in next months, so any feedback on this idea is greatly appreciated.

I was playing Outriders (https://store.steampowered.com/app/680420/OUTRIDERS/) a few months back and I got an absolute blast of overwhelming deja vue, before I realised that it was triggered by remembering Gears of War 2. That's the only one I played for any length of time.

I always thought the series was slightly over-rated (albeit, fun story/characters carrying it a bit) but the impact it had on the FPS genre is unmistakable. Walls. Walls, everywhere! Duck over the walls to shoot. Stay behind walls! Run from wall to wall!
