What? Isn't Linux running on a PC?

Cities: Skylines - Match Day, a free DLC to add a Stadium to your city
By ElectricPrism, 13 June 2016 at 7:28 am UTC

Considering there are like 85,000 addons in the Workshop 1 stadium addon feels like it barely counts as "DLC" by definition.

https://steamcommunity.com/workshop/browse/?appid=255710&browsesort=trend&section=readytouseitems

But hey, I welcome it - I think the workshop addons far surpass the value of the deluxe version or addons for the most part.

Quoting: edve98I guess keeping it as DLC gives ability for people to disable it if they don't want it. This is the only reason that I can see why they made this into DLC.
truely agree. what if i dont have bigger city which still need to improved to have a stadium yet..
do i have to wait patch downloads ?? ;)

Looks like I've located the problem.

The solution unfortunately isn't as simple.

Quoting: tuubiGreat interview, BTRE. Almost as great as the game is shaping up to be. I simply can't believe this could fail to get funded.
I agree. Excellent interview.

It is great seeing them being so open about the development process. I hope the project turns out really well for them. I look forward to the game release...

Fantastic interview. It made me feel all happy inside knowing that our community feedback made them more interested in Linux. I do find it odd Calvin copy/pasted his answer for two questions.

Side note: Calvin and Chuck. Please stop referring to Windows as "PC". It's cringy enough when regular people do it, and it's even more cringy when a developer does it.

Backed, looks pretty cool. Never played Myst, but apparently it will be quite different from that franchise if we are to take Chuck at his word.

QuoteAnd in the last 25 years technology has changed so dramatically that it's allowing us to create ZED.

A really cool thing about ZED is that it visually looks like the old prerendered scenes of 90s PC games. We have easily surpassed what could only be prerendered just years ago.

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive adjusts full screen modes for Linux to help with performance

Quoting: kshadeI've got less than half of what I get on Windows in terms of FPS, and this is true even with low settings.

You are probably using Nouveau drivers instead of Nvidia proprietary ones.

I die a little on the inside when I hear devs refer to application binaries as EXE's...

Still, looking forward to this, remember reading about it a while back.

I think cross-platform development is pretty foreign to a lot of developers, because really they could automate Linux builds if they were smart (they might not work, but it would help x-platform developing immensely and identify issues early)

Quoting: BlodofferIt didn't really increase fps, but that was already on par with Windows version - if not even better. I think this update mainly addressed input lag issues, which was greatly reduced, I think.

I've got less than half of what I get on Windows in terms of FPS, and this is true even with low settings. Same goes for my notebook. Desktop has a GTX 660 and gets over 120 FPS on Windows and around 60 on Linux, Notebook has some mobile Nvidia GPU and gets above 60 in Windows, around 30 on Linux. Is it just newer/better GPUs that get equivalent performance?

I have 200+ on a GTX 660. Your problems seem to be elsewhere.

Dead Island Definitive Edition and Dead Island: Riptide Definitive Edition now officially support Linux & SteamOS
By Comandante Ñoñardo, 12 June 2016 at 11:10 pm UTC

Average 55fps with a GTX 960 at 1080p (medium preset) with a core i5 4690K, (no overclock), 2x4GB DDR3 1866 at 1600 cl8

They need to improve this...

I don't note much difference between this "Definitive" edition running on Linux and the original Dead Island running on the old windows XP SP3

It nicely done, it does much more than "just a building". Like it. However, a DLC that allows you to build just one building?

Crea, a 2D ever-expanding sandbox RPG now fully released with Linux support, some thoughts
By Nezchan, 12 June 2016 at 8:03 pm UTC

I've had the game for two years now, and it's come a long way in that time. The research and chaos crafting particularly, and I'm only just getting into the lore parts. Jasson's done quite a job with the game, although there are still a few bugs here and there. The windowing thing is bothersome, and I never was able to get the map to completely work.

Over the next couple of weeks, I'm hoping to really get into the full release version, try out the randomized dungeons, fight a boss or three, and so on. Really get my money's worth.

QuoteAlways nice to see free new content, but I do wonder why it wasn't a patch. Seems weird to add such small things into a DLC especially when it's free.

Probably because it is related to the Euro Cup and they wanted it to be noted :)

To be fair sometimes you do need to push because other forces will push in another direction and unless you push as well they will make things go their way completely. Does that make sense?

I've had all three mentioned, Crea and the others are great for different reasons. I guess I've found myself falling head over heels for these 2D Sandbox/voxel/survival games. I guess it's part nostalgia driven by newer modern mechanics that make it all the more worthwhile. More 2D games like this please, take my money all day :)
The overall gameplay of these titles I find to be really interesting and fun being an old school gamer
(i started with coin-op pac-man and my best friend in school had an old pong game).

The Wine Development Release 1.9.12 Is Now Available

Subterrain from Pixellore is now fully playable under Wine 1.9.12. Only thing that needs to be done is to set "glsl=disabled" in winetricks and the game plays beautifully.

Still can't get Lichdom: Battlemage or 8-bit Armies to run, though...
