I'm not surprised, [S2]Slacker did a fantastic job of sorting out some OGL usage in HoN quite some time ago (when S2 owned HoN).
I need to find the threads where he was testing out the stuff but it was silly good improvements.

Nice. It's worth trying it with games that don't work with Steam Controller, like Kopanito All-Stars Soccer or Mark of the Ninja for example.

Oh man, I'd love to get Paws! I hope that the game will eventually get released DRM free on other stores as well.

Nice. Currently, I'm not that interested anymore in the game but I may pick it up at a later time. I still think it's a very beautiful game.

Thanks for the tip. Did not know about the Steam thing. Will be extra-careful then.

Why would it be? It's still in Early Access.

The case-sensitive filesystem issue bites us in the ass because it appears that whatever storage system Valve uses is not case sensitive, like Windows, and the only way to change the case of a file is to rename it to something else and then change it back. This is why the Firewatch guys had to rename everything, and the Planet Explorers guys spent something like six months getting it all fixed (if they have done by now). Basically it needs to be right before uploading to Steam.

The other major thing Beamboom didn't mention that devs keep getting wrong is to not use the XDG Base Directory Specification.

Two Worlds: Epic Edition now available for Linux in beta form, uses Wine
By m2mg2, 11 April 2016 at 3:55 pm UTC

Quoting: dubigrasuConsider using a CSMT Wine for this game, as it can offer a greater performance (compared with the stable version they're using):

Have you informed the developer of the performance difference with the version of WINE you used?

One thing I found a bit strange about - it's causing me a major headache because of camera shaking. Switching off "head bob" setting makes it a bit better. Never really encountered it before in games.

Enemy Starfighter, the seriously cool looking space shooter is no longer coming to Linux
By TobyHaynes, 11 April 2016 at 3:01 pm UTC

Quoting: TheRiddickWell there is Limit Theory, that might make it to Linux and is basically this. Thought I think the developer has had some mental issues lately (probably common for people with VERY high IQ's like him).

Josh Parnell posted some more positive news over the last few months.

My short form reading of those posts basically points to the incredible strain of constantly reporting updates, blog posts and making monthly release videos in the public eye rather than concentrating on getting the game to completion. Since last year, it looks like Josh has returned to the development groove and maybe we'll see where the project is some time this year. I wish him well - Limit Theory is a massive project for one developer, and with any procedural game, getting it to scale up and remain interesting is a difficult challenge.

Quoting: cRaZy-bisCuiTI really don't get what's your problem, guys. I installed really a lot of linux distros on different systems. The installation always worked except for one notebook - the RAM in that one had errors which caused kernel panics. Apart from that a little bit of finetuning was needed in some cases to get wireless working with some nottebooks. But for that case: Why don't you just by hardware which is known to work oob? If I want a windows system, I do buy windows compliant hardware. If I want a linux system I should do the same for linux.

With desktops I never had any problems. Including proprietary drivers for the GPU.

Most people just buy a Windows computer and install Linux on it afterwards, despite people like Tuxedo Computers, Entroware, ThinkPenguin, and ZaReason offering pretty awesome Linux PCs.

Personally I've never had any problems with partitioning, which might be because OpenSUSE uses magic in their partitioner.

I wonder how people who paid for the original game feel about that?

from what I've seen of this version it's a watered down version of ARK: Survival Evolved and more specifically it's very much like a "Hunger games" style atmosphere. tailored for shorter games to be more esports oriented.

it's always great to see a bench where Linux nails Window$.
at least some hardcore Micro$oft groupies may re-think their OS superiority in some cases.
some of them may even think that this superiority is purely based on the closed-platform DirectX..
maybe i'm asking too much..

many thanks to dubigrasu/airspeedmph for the always outstanding video content!!
keep it up bro :)

I could never enjoy SS3 due to poor performance even on a highend nvidia card. Not sure why, it had decent fps but there was lot of juddering during gameplay.

If it's a single player game, why don't you just buy yourself X3 (or Rebirth, if you so derire)?
