This game was released a couple years ago just not on steam. It was available in some bundles, time to go back and check for a key.

Very cool, I wonder how much harder it is for them to add Mac support though, since it's coming later.

Nice, but not really my thing anymore.

I had a period sometime around Y2K that lasted for about a year. During that time I was gripped by "emulation-mania" (lol) and I went from MAME with all it ´s old arcade titles to "UAE" with all the old Amiga titles and other emulators as well, SNES, Gameboy, Sega etc. etc. etc.

However, I eventually came to grips with the fact that I had very little interest in actually *playing* any of these oldies. I had more than enough contemporary games to keep me occupied. Nope, it was just the challenge of amassing a library of old and often obscure games that was the entertainment. Like a coin or stamp collection really.

So...end of story. I think I may still have a box of old cd:s filled with emulators and old games up in the attic somewhere.

I think in XCom it was called Iron Man mode or something like that. I had a friend who played the whole game in this mode, losing only one character from his squad throughout, until he got to the final battle and lost the whole squad. He was slightly traumatised!

Shame it's made on unity. It's going to have very very poor performance. You can even see it runs like crap in the video's. I know it's not finished yet, but it will still run like rubbish even when it's finished.

For what it's worth, I've been playing NS2 on Linux for like 6 months with no major problems. I'm on a ZaReason laptop with NVIDIA drivers, using Ubuntu LTS. So, I'm sorry to hear that other fellow Linux folks are having issues.

Quoting: BeamboomIf it can be played offline, how can it then possibly be a mmo? Unless that term has been redefined lately?
The developers themselves never call it an outright MMO, they state that it has "MMO features".

Wait, really?!?!

The wall textures, air particles and plants scream cryengine or unreal.

Do you have a source? I'm honestly surprised.

it's not

What engine is it using? I thought it was using Chrome.

It uses NW.js, which runs in chromium, from what I understand. It seems to be a pretty capable engine judging from the way the game plays. I'm actually surprised they haven't made a Chromebook version yet.

Our Linux & SteamOS gamer survey results for January 2016
By borartr, 25 January 2016 at 1:29 pm UTC Likes: 1

I think a monthly survey is way to frequent to be honest. You have tried it out and it should be obvious now with 90% of the answers that you catch fluctuations, not trends (which should be the wished for result). Personally I have stopped answering these surveys because they're too frequent and it annoys me. Consider switching to 1 survey every 3 month.
Also the illustration is quite improvable. A dashed line at 1039, or 38% in an other example? what makes these numbers so special?
A yes/no question does not need a graphical display of both possible answers. Same holds for many others, it just gets overloaded.

Just trying to help.

Quoting: GuestWhat do you mean by "with permadeath"? If I die in game, I have to buy game again to play it? :D

Was that a genuine question? It means you have to start all over again.

What do you mean "genuine question"? If you start all over again, it is not permadeath :D IMO you should not be able to play after you fail. Now that would be a permadeath... This I would call "lack of save function"

You must just be new to Rogue-like games, maybe? Permadeath is a well established term. In permadeath games, your character only has one life and while you can save your progress in the game from session to session, you can't create "backup" saves. If you die, you start again with a new character.

Popular permadeath games - FTL, Tales of Maj'Eyal (although it supports a non-permadeath mode too), Teleglitch, Don't Starve, Binding of Isaac. And some games offer permadeath modes too, such as XCom.

I doubt it will. More likely it'll be a single shared Steam launcher and game library entry for the "vault". All the various articles are talking about a single package.

Personally I'm not going to touch this one. I did enjoy (some of) these classics back in the day, but the simplistic arcade gameplay just isn't my idea of fun anymore.

Quoting: oldrocker99Lovely ten-year-old game ;) , but I've had it crash with no way to get out (Not CTRL-ALT-F!, not ALT-F4, not even ALT-TAB) in Tutorial 2 besides the reset button :><: . Anyone else have this happen?

We have not seen that on any supported hardware/software. However it does sound like a graphics card hang which is almost always caused by using out of date drivers that don't meet the minimum specifications we have listed on the Store page.

I would double check your graphics card and driver version details and update if needed. If that does not work then I'd contact Feral support with as much detail as possible as to your hardware and software setup and we can investigate.

Quoting: LinasLove the voice acting. Like when the character throws a grenade and shouts "here's a present for you, bitch." I have heard people complaining about English versions of Russian games, but they do not realize that it is actually quite hard to translate Russian slang accurately. For exampe the previously mentioned phrase is only 3 words in Russian.

Long story short, learn Russian, play in original language. :)
Man, as a Russian who doesn't live in Russia and doesn't get to interact with slang much (I only speak Russian with my family & their friends), it cracks me up every time I get to hear Russian slang (movies, when I play with Russians, Russian games, Russian sites, etc).
The Russian slang is just as rich as the language itself :) some phrases amaze me every time.

I kinda don't think it's a single-player game. It would be cool if it had an offline SP mode, but the feeling I'm getting is that this is like a DayZ or H1Z1 type multiplayer survival game, but with an added element of PvE and story, rather than just a sandbox to gank people in.

It has been confirmed that the game offers an Offline mode.

I could honestly use a gritty grey gun porn shooter MMO in my life, if this went Linux native, I wouldn't pass on that.

Kind of interesting to see they don't use a native word for certain terms like "Linux"--as opposed to, say, "Линакс."
