I remember having to press the home button, before the controller would accept any other input, apart from that, the DS3 is working out of the box for me as well. Also the Controller usually needs to be connected before you start Steam if I remember correctly.

Quoting: SabunI truly wonder when they started facing financial woes. Was it after Crysis 3? Or was it due to Ryse? You'd think these exclusive deals with EA and Microsoft would make them rich beyond comprehension, but it doesn't seem so. I wonder if it was Warface's doing?

Problems started with wasting money on the xbone exclusive game Ryze.

What's with the bible based quiz questions every now and then?

Wolf3D was a childhood memory, so I get nostalgia when I play it; this on the other hand doesn't do anything for me.

So about comparable to mine, except you have a newer GPU and I have a faster CPU:
Processor: AMD Phenom II X4 955 BE 3.2 Ghz
Video Card: Diamond AMD Radeon HD 4670
Memory: 4 Gigabytes DDR3 PC10666, 1333 MHz
Hard Drive: 500 GB Western Digital Caviar Black

I do need to upgrade my graphics card one of these days...

I have to agree with Tak that the PS3 dualshock 3 controllers work fine with SteamOS. I tested it just now on the latest Alchemist update to make double sure of it.
Here's me controlling my buggy goat with it on SteamOS:

SteamOS even detects it as a PS3 controller right off the bat:

All I did to get it working was connect it via a cheap USB cable (seen here):

Wireless is of course another thing entirely, and I don't have any bluetooth connectors for it to begin with.

Eh? I'm using the dualshock 3 as my primary gamepad.

Over USB, it Just Works™. Via bluetooth, you do have to use sixad (I'm using a PPA, but that's because the gamepad itself doesn't actually use the standard bluetooth stack.

I made a little utility for switching back and forth from sixad to "normal" bluetooth operating mode - you're welcome to try it.

Oh, this looks beautiful! I'll definitely keep an eye on it. Looks a little bit like FTL but with more variety and depth.

The music is nice too. Maybe they'll offer a bundle including the game and the soundtrack. That would be great.

I think porting mobile games to PC as a bit useless, as usually these games are fairly limited, but still, why not offer the option to the buyers. Out There is a great game on the phone...one of my best experiences this year.

Quoting: GuestI bought it for my smartphone and it’s nice, but a bit too hard for me…

I think it needs either a difficulty setting or better explanations or less randomness… not sure.

OK first off, when you hop from planet to planet, manage your resources well.
You do NOT need to mine every planet, what you want to do is move forward. To do that, you should try to get as much fuel as possible
Mine in the following order:
Gas planets (Nearly on every system that you hop into) - you will never have too much gas
Metals - only if you have below 20 iron. Other materials you can leave on the planets...
Planets with Life - If you have enough fuel, try to visit them as you will unlock techs. Oxygen is fairly easy to come by.

NEVER mine Suns unless you are desperate, or you have a super hull

Mine at a depth of 7, bear in mind that if you get over 4 in fuel resources it is worth having drilled. Below that, you are mining at a loss!

Sunrider: First Arrival, A Mix Of Visual Novel & Strategy Now On Steam For Linux For Free
By Ahartono99, 15 July 2014 at 9:20 am UTC

Quoting: loggfreaknot really interrested in the game, but does anyone know what the music is? especially from 0:33

You should give the game a try, it's quite good.

As for the song, Sunrider uses 3 songs from Iced Blade. The one in the video is "Chiru Hana" featuring the vocal of Lily-an. The other two songs (which are not in the video)are:
1. "Sora no Senritsu ~Melody of Cosmos~" featuring Lily-an
2. "Firn" featuring Lily-an and Maya.

Note: Takanashi "Corey" Keita is the composer and guitar player from Iced Blade. He is an anisong (anime song) and game music composer. His previous works include composing and arranging the Katekyo Hitman Reborn character song "Perfect World - Byakuran," and Fortissimo EXA//Akkord:Bsusvier extra song, "Umbrella.". At this moment he is working on a character song for Sola (one of the character is Sunrider) and it's called "Lost History".

"XCOM - Enemy Unknown" cause I was big fan of original Microprose "UFO" series.
About 280 hours in "Star Conflict", guys this game is really worth of playing (with platoon of friends and voice comm it can be awesome :D).
and:
"X3" series (Reunion, TC, AP), some time with "Shadowrun Returns" as its really good cyberpunk cRPG with brilliant "climatic" graphics and low requirements, "Don't Starve".

All of above played native on Linux, I don't have Windows partition. With 37 games in Linux Steam library, and some of latest announcements: "Darksiders", "War Thunder", "Torment: ToN", "Divinity: OS" and most important "Star Citizen" i have enough "gaming power" on my Linux machine.

The only games I've played on Wine are "Planescape: Torment", one of the greatest games ever created (can't wait "Torment: Tides Of Numenera"), "Silent Hill 2, 3" and "Il2 Sturmovik 1946". All of them works perfectly on Wine (Il2 is OpenGL app). "Planescape: Torment" works better than on modern Windows versions (7,8).

If its interesting for some1, my specs: 2 core Phenom [email protected], 4Gb RAM, GTX 460SE. As U can see, it's definitely not a modern "gaming dragon" :D

A Linux Port Of Terraria Will Soon Be Looked At, Hooray
By ElectricPrism, 14 July 2014 at 4:17 pm UTC

@seven

QuoteIs there a big difference between terraria and starbound?

If you play it for more than a day, yeah they're very different. Terarria artwork is more SNES-esk and true to conventional SNES sprite form factors of 8 & 16 pixel multiples on the tile sets.

Starbound doesn't follow conventional sprite sizes and they don't use black in their overworld sprites which give them a flat cartoon feel.

Terarria is more about mining deep down into the earth and collecting materials where Starbound is more about exploring and killing / stealing from alien's homes. If you think you're going to go mining very deep in Starbound - you're gonna have a bad time finding basic materials like Iron.

Both are good games, but they're not the same gameplay at all. (Obviously everything I said is IMO)
