News - GOG formally announce their GOG Patrons subscription donation system

Quoting: tpauThey don't have to release galaxy for Linux at all to be viable for Linux gaming. There is already plenty of tools handling that.🥰
Yeah but they have their cloud saving and multiplayer all hooked up into GoG Galaxy 2+, plus its not a bad launcher. It's always good to offer a native option from the horses mouth rather then depending on 3rd party apps that MOST people will likely not know about coming from Windows.

I'm just holding out until the NVIDIA driver fix because this is one of the WORST affected by the NVIDIA DX12 performance issues. We talking %37 performance drop compared to windows. So if you got 100fps in windows you get 63fps under Linux, its pretty bad!

Finally checked mine and found that you don't even get a platform breakdown if you only ever played on one platform. Understandable, I guess.

71% of my playtime this year was RimWorld (36%), Team Fortress 2 (23%), and Stellaris (12%), all of which are over a decade old*. 7% of my playtime was games released this year, which I think might all be from Ark Nova (the digital version).

*RimWorld only released on Steam in 2018 so Steam apparently counts it as "recent" (1–7 years old) rather than "classic" (8+ years old) in the breakdown, but I had pre-alpha access from the original Kickstarter in 2013 and was playing it years before it officially released.

News - Latest Steam Deck update will warn you if an Xbox controller needs upgrading
By Mountain Man, 17 Dec 2025 at 9:42 pm UTC

Quoting: Cyba.CowboyThe ability to only update under Windows is a deal-breaker for me, and has convinced me to never buy another XBOX controller... The last time it happened, I was lucky to have a work laptop that ran Windows that I take home - but I'm about to leave that job, and I probably won't have access to a Windows laptop outside of the workplace next time (most places in my industry use fixed computers that are locked-down). Absolutely ludicrous.
I mean, what do expect buying a Microsoft product? They have zero incentive to make it easily compatible with anything but Windows. I suppose you could always try running the firmware update via Wine or Proton, but I suspect that's not possible, assuming Microsoft offers a standalone update package.

Almost no one in the family has a Windows PC. There is an old, half-broken laptop. I wouldn't enter my data there either.

In my case I think it's more likely that Steam detects Proton as Windows in some cases.

Absolutely like no other game, except you have a charmander with horns, a squirtle in the shape of a bird, and a mini dinosaur like pikachu right in the video thumbnail.

That said I wouldn't mind a legal pokemon clone even if its a mobile adaptation, I still play pokemon games on my advance sp.

only 14% of gaming was "spent by all Steam users in new releases (games released in 2025)
Personally I enjoyed Split fiction and DRG survivor from this year. Tried and refunded a few games, most of them were some combination of buggy, overpriced, uninteresting, unoptimised and so on.

If your time and wallet are finite, you're simply better off buying games a couple years after release.

I mostly played CK III (89%) and then 4 other games share the rest. Also, 4 months where I didn't play a single game (on Steam).

I don't see any breakdown by OS, but I assure you it's 100% Linux :-).

Though if GOG had similar stats, I think they'd be quite a bit different ... (for one, 89% KC:D2)

If not for Clair Obscur, my personal figure would be zero percent. I have almost no interest in new releases at this point. I guess since I am predominately a MMO player, that's kinda natural - these games are meant to be played for years, even decades. And yes, there hasn't been a decent new MMO on over a decade, too.

But usually I had this handful of newly released games I played at least for a little. They seem to be far and between these days. Other than Clair Obscur, the only other recent games I can remember having played in their respective release years were Baldur's Gate 3 and Hogwarts Legacies.

Not even sure why I still have a Humble Choice subscription. :D

100% of my Steam games played in 2025 were... New World. Until they announced the sunset.

Everything else was games with GOG offline installers or Warframe, GW2 and PoE1/2 with their respective standalone launchers.

Also, the Cannon Fodder recruiting music (starting at 2:40min https://youtu.be/Qc2fulUF64w?si=kVAiz77PpbopUulP&t=160) is a melody that I regularly hum for no reason, even though I haven't played this game in over 30 years.
