Nvidia Optimus with Ironhide
By kednar, 27 November 2011 at 9:53 pm UTC

Oh, sorry! I was talking about Minecraft.

The issue is just that, the lighting is very dark even with in-game brightness at maximum.

Regards.

What game?

I would submit a bug report to them directly. I personally don't have any issues with brightness.

Worked perfectly in a ThinkPad W520 with Ubuntu 11.10.

The only issue is that the lights in the game appears darker than in other OS... even with in-game brightness at maximum.

Any idea or similar case?

I would suggest sometime giving Ironhide a go, Bumblebee is an old project which was forked into The Bumblebee Project and now Ironhide.

Congratulations on getting optimus to work. I tried bumblebee on a Dell XPS15 but had no luck getting it to work despite all the suggestions from the the developer and my own researches. The support issue was eventually closed with no resolution and the Dell has now been relegated to running Windows 7 (which it does quite well).

From now on I'm sticking with ATI. I've had a number of different ATI systems and they've all run with no problems using the propriety fglrx driver.

Indie Royale Bundle update!
By Bumadar, 15 November 2011 at 5:43 pm UTC

bullet candy perfect and scoregasm are similar in some ways but both are fun and run smoooooth.
irukandji (from same developer) refuses to start: Assertion 's' failed at pulse/simple.c:256, function pa_simple_free(). Aborting. aoss does not help, so I guess unlike the other 2 it wants pulse in a bad way... and pulse was the 1st thing to vanish on this install.

Desura client may be open sourced
By Hamish, 13 November 2011 at 2:57 am UTC

I am not quite sure how they can get the dual-licensing working with the GPL. Might be best to use a license that does not have anti-linking protections in this case.

EDIT: Okay, having read this it makes more sense now:

QuoteThe lone developer of the Desura client writes about his intentions to create an open-source projectout of it under the GPLv3. Th server-side portion of the distribution platform would remain closed-up.

Indie Royale Bundle
By MaximB, 11 November 2011 at 8:33 am UTC

I also thought about writing about this "Indie Royal" but decided against it.
With only one Linux game in the bundle we support Windows by donating.

I even sent them a message saying what I thing about this bundle.
And yet I would be more then happy to publish about them when they offer much more Linux games in the bundle.

By Bumadar, 10 November 2011 at 6:52 pm UTC

still no desura key though :/

btw, so we have like 5 games added now, got to wonder if they all got the crappy deal like steelstorm did ? and I still don't see why they doing it like this, but that must be me. Release a full bundle and am sure people pay more then for the 1 game at start.

My Minecraft love has actually kind of died down. Ever since last year when we were promised torches than ran out, and never received. Then he started going off on this other weird direction. I kinda lost my interest :/ If I find someone good to play the game with again though, I'd get back into it.

Actually i haven't shared anything yet ;)

G+ pages are odd no way to link it to rss feeds or twitter or anything so i need to manually post everything.

Hey, in my opinion it would be a disservice to refer to Helena as only a platformer. ;)

Oh i thought you where being off with us haha :)

Nice list you have i think i also own all of them bar PBS which i will pick up on payday, i might do a post listing all interesting indie platformers :) (at work at the moment so cant get my games list up...typing on my phone!).

Try And Yet It Moves & King Arthurs Gold (especially this one while still a platformer its multiplayer, bit like terraria almost).

? I was genuinely asking what platformers I was missing. I love platformers.

I have: BEEP, BTM, Braid, Cave Story, Project Black Sun, Trine, SoR, VVVVVV, and Gish.

Keep it chilled guys :)

It was just a passing comment thats all. I love all indie games including platformers, i just personally want more of a bigger variety but as Hamish said we are still a small user base...for now!

I wouldnt feature it on gol news if i wasnt interested in it somewhat :)

New Game: Project Black Sun
By Hamish, 8 November 2011 at 7:35 am UTC

Hey, I was not beating on platformers, just that there seems to be a bit of an indie preoccupation with them.

Anyway, I just played through the first episode of the original Duke Nukem a few months ago through Dosbox. :)

New Game: Project Black Sun

? *glances at Desura* I've got... 7 "platformer" games. Where are these plethora of platformers I'm missing? 8 if you count BEEP which isn't on Desura.

Either way, I for one love platformers/sidescrollyshooters. Maybe that's just because I grew up playing Super Metroid and Mario.
