I'm looking forward to Valves next project... Electron.. err Neutron?
Whatever the name is, I'd love to see a counterpart to Proton, allowing devs to natively target Linux but still let their games run on Windows via a compatibility layer

Incredible to see the sheer variety in styles both artistic and in gameplay!
I remember when I first watched these and almost everything was a 2d, pixel-art, side-scroller. Amazing to see how far it's come

Team Fortress 2 Classic scrap their open beta and new Valve rules likely mean they have to change the name

Honestly just pull valve's own move on them
Call it TF2 Classic, but *not* Team Fortress
That's how valve got around the Dota2 / Defense of the Ancients problem

Discord wants developers to stick it inside their games with a new SDK

For those looking for a simple, open-source alternative to discord for voice chat, my friends and I have been using jitsi-meet for about 2 years now, as we found it had better voice quality with fewer drops than discord.
I only found out about it because it's the voice chat that matrix embeds if you choose it

Yeap. Here in the UK organ donation was swapped to opt-in for the same good reason Manjaro should use opt-in for their telemetry. Lots of people who aren't bothered either way, will never opt-in, but those who care will always opt-out
I feel like you swapped one or two "out" and "in" somewhere in there.
Yeap sorry, corrected

Valve adding a Steam feature for game transfers between PCs and Steam Decks

Sounds like a particularly useful way to be able to free up space on your Deck by removing games you're not currently playing, but with quick transfer back from your PC when you want it back again.

N.B. I don't own a Steam Deck myself so I can't vouch for how useful that would actually be. Just my musings

KDE Plasma 5.26 is out now

Just FYI for those wanting HD Netflix on Linux, the Firefox Add-on Netflix 1080p (I assume there is probably a similar one from Chrome) enables it.

You can verify it (as the add-on suggests) by searching Netflix for a program called Test Patterns and see the difference with the add-on enabled or disabled.

FOSS voice chat application Mumble has finally put out the massive 1.3 overhaul

For ease of use, lack of need to self host (kind of) and really good voice quality I highly recommend Riot (riot dot im).
The client is relatively easy to use and the whole system (Riot frontend, Matrix backend, and Jitsi for voice/video) is open source.

The way Matrix works is decentralised, so each computer in a room keeps a log of the chats and updates the others when they come online. As such you're technically self-hosting, but without the hassle/cost that entails (you can also actually self host if you want).

The only downside I've found is it's not clear when someone is online (no indicator next to their name in the room list), though it's entirely possible that I'm missing it.
