The Linux distribution I was most thankful for in 2020 - EndeavourOS

Quoting: oldrocker99I tried EndeavourOS, and it's too close to vanilla Arch for me (I don't like spending a long time to install packages); I prefer the so-called "bloated" Manjaro. All the benefits of Arch with the ease of Ubuntu. That was also my experience with EndeavourOS. When I installed it, I realised all the stuff that Manjaro does right out-from-the-box, and didn't want to spend time "copying" this behaviour in EndeavourOS.

Quoting: MohandevirMaybe Valve is still planning on doing something with their SteamOS ?Quoting: sbolokanovLinux is an OS made for people who want power. If one doesn't want power, one shouldn't be playing with it.This piece got me thinking... Why is Valve still supporting Linux, at this point, if it all comes to this?

Quoting: eldakingYes, wasn't it Doom (2016) who got a huge patch, 1 week before the retail copies were out ?Quoting: The_Aquabatit surprises me taking into account how buggy Cyberpunk currently is. It's a bad sign that devs are getting away with buggy releases imho. There isn't any issue that can't be circumvented by throwing truckloads of cash into marketing (this is the basis of our society) - the hype for this was absurd, there was no doubt it was going to be huge.
Quoting: eldakingI'm just a bit disappointed that so many people are buying the game instead of downloading the illegal "Hacker Edition". I mean, it makes sense thematically, doesn't it?But, but... it doesn't look so good on the shelf

Micromachines is currently installed on a pc running Vista 32 bits, which is the most recent windows version on which the game will work.
Don't worry though, it's not as if I couldn't live without those, I was just replying to:

Quoting: x_wingFrom the top of my head: Micromachines v4 and Arturia Storm Electro (which is not a game, but an old music software).Quoting: furaxhornyxI know ; still, it didn't work for me :sad:Which game is giving you problems?

Quoting: CybolicAt this rate, doesn't Wine actually have better general Windows compatibilities now than Win7/8 did when they came out?

Quoting: x_wingI know ; still, it didn't work for me :sad:Quoting: furaxhornyxRemember that you can use no CD patches for those cases. AFAIK, most Starforce games have one... or at least a patched disk imagen.Quoting: CybolicAt this rate, doesn't Wine actually have better general Windows compatibilities now than Win7/8 did when they came out?Not sure ; for me, the only (very few) games and application that were not compatible with win7 were using anti-copy software such as Starforce (which, unless I missed something, do not work under Wine either, since they rely on a special driver being installed).
Still, this does not remove Wine's merit to allow compatibility with so many games

Quoting: eldakingI feel intrigued by the idea of "tiny" MO. MMOs tend to be a hellhole and not only because of griefers, scalpers, and obnoxious people: in order to force people to interact, they make it impossible to play the game at your own pace. You have to grind to keep up with others otherwise you won't be able to do the meaningful things, have to pay attention to the meta to get grouped up, have to repeatedly craft only whatever is in higher demand, and so on. I enjoy exploring vast (and lived-in) persistent worlds and doing story quests and such, but I don't want to commit to a MMO because it is usually time-consuming and unpleasant.Or maybe by "tiny", they mean "small servers", like The Fourth Coming (T4C) back in the day, and their servers of 200 people
I'm not sure, though, how this one will work. It sounds more like "interact with strangers, but just a little" than "occasionally join your friends".
