Building a Retro Linux Gaming Computer Part 30: Imperial Purple

Sorry, I'm way too late again, but still
At least the small box of DD No Limit Texas Hold'Em Tournament Edition prominently features Linux on the box, but the actual disc only contains the Windows release! I've seen that another user added scans of a big box release, but the disc cover art looks the same, so I'm not sure whether that one is complete...
On the other hand the DD Tournament Poker box *doesn't* mention Linux, but actually contains the Linux version.
And last but not least we have DD Tournament Poker 2005: No Limit Texas Hold'em (Collector's Edition) where the information matches for once: The Linux version is mentioned *and* included ;-)
Quoting: gbudnyMobyGames mentions the Linux version of this game. I don't know if this information is correct:Most information on MobyGames for the Donohoe Digital games is correct. I can guarantee that, because I added it

I see it on their website, but it's hard to say if it was included on the CD with the game.
Quoting: HamishLooking at more eBay listings it seems that the boxes that were published by Eagle Games (including the Annie Duke endorsed "Collector’s Edition") just have the Windows and Mac version on the disc, although I suspect the activation keys would also work on Linux, but a later "Tournament Edition" distributed by Encore (and endorsed this time by Phil Gordon) does actually mention Linux directly on the box.Warning! Attention! Danger!

Quoting: HamishDoes this mean I have to learn how to play poker now? :neutral:I also had no idea about Poker before, but this game actually made me learn and surprisingly even like it: Among others it's possible to turn on cheats like "Computer Cards Face Up" to analyze how the computers plays and what the different strategies are. That way I found it quite easy to learn the rules, but there's also an excellent built-in help system.
If You Like… Diablo

The bad news that none of them seems to be very far. If you still want to try: Riiablo probably is the farthest one (at least it was when I tried out all of them ~ one year ago, but my impression when looking at the project pages is that this hasn't changed)

Quoting: CyrilDevilutionX is a gem, I keep hope for something similar for Diablo II, that would be huge! The good news is that there are a few reimplementations already - just have a look at the list on https://osgameclones.com/diablo-ii/ [External Link]!

The proposed release date has passed meanwhile and the website is broken, but at least the developer is still responding to questions on Steam, so I guess that's a good sign...

I just noticed there's also a version for direct download (without Steam) available at https://picture-enigmas.com/downloads.html [External Link]. I'd even call it DRM-free because you can play the free levels without creating an account.

On the other hand I haven't found the original Inner Worlds release either, just the Magicom release, but that one also doesn't contain the Linux binaries on the disc

Quoting: gbudnyI assume you are talking about the Origin release of Abuse? I've been looking for the original release from crack.com for years now without success...Quoting: HamishI definitely intend to come back to Abuse in a later article, once I can get my hands on a CD-ROM. The original registered version direct from Crack dot Com would be best. It's much easier to find it than Inner worlds.

I should emphasize that the quality of the video (when watching the complete movie) is just abysmal  With a resolution of 224x168 (!), massive compression artifacts and sound with static noise where it's hardly possible to understand some of the characters it must have been way worse than even the VHS release...
It's still an interesting addition to Linux gaming history, but if you really want Interactive Storybooks for your children I'd recommend to play the games from Humongous Entertainment or Living Books using ScummVM...

I just found out that the game is also available as a physical version including the Linux version on disc - DRM-free!
That version is produced by First Press Games and is available both as a Regular Edition [External Link] and a Retro Edition [External Link] (including a SNES style box).
Just in case someone else loves boxes as much as I do ;-)
