as you can see, HL2 Update is mostly just reworked textures and small lightning enhancements, while cinematic mod has improved models and reworked (remastered) maps, and just looks better

Quoting: JSVRamirezCan anyone tell me how this compares to FakeFactory's Cinematic Mod?tried both, but HL2: update isn't nearly as good as cinematic mod, you can find a comparison on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OpxDB4MVT-I [External Link]

Quoting: GuestPorting after the fact to any platform not in mind from the start is going to cost far more than designing a game with cross-platform in mind from the start. Everyone should know this by now, and failure to design with cross platform from the start, to me just seems like lack of effort on behalf of the developer. Failure of proper planning is the real cost here.i agree, developpers don't put any thought into cross-platform and then try to port it, if they designed the game with cross-platform in mind from the start, making the game would take maybe slightly longer, but th porting process will be massively reduced, but you can see from the video they're using Visual Studio, which isn't a good tool for cross-platform development

because dota and strife just aren't a replacement, Dota2 is too much hardcore-complex and hard to get into
and Strife is too noob-friendly, too casual, league strikes the balance really well in my oppinion

Quoting: Avehicle7887Doubt it will since id software passed to DirectX since Rage. A shame as they were big players in the OpenGL gaming field.their engine is still based on openGL, id tech does NOT use directX, though they don't release their games for linux anymore since they were bought by bethesda

Quoting: morbiusI was very much into this game until I've seen on Steam that it's a Paradox-style DLC fiesta. I hate developers who keep endlessly nickel-and-diming their customers.i don't see the problem with it as long as it doesn't nerf the original game without DLC

well if you developped the game in OpenGL in the first place that would save a lot of effort
