Valve amended the Steam survey for December 2025 - Linux actually hit another all-time high

Great to see actually, and that is in spite of the fact that my newest Linux convert declined the Steam Survey on their PC.😁

Quoting: Naib
Quoting: mattaraxiaThe trend is insane.

10% by 2030 or so seems inevitable now. I think at that level, it's the point where people can largely stop caring.

I mean, if you just want to see Microsoft lose OK that won't be done.

But at 10%, you'll be able to buy a mouse or a monitor or whatever, and assume its firmware is on LVFS. Any game publisher not bothering to at least test with Proton, will be truly an outlier.

From the consumer's point of view, pragmatically, it'll be about the same as 50%.
ASSUMING the bestfit is correct... yes 2030 for 10% is possible

Also interesting to see SteamOS Holo being dethroned by Other and Arch-Based(if you sum them up like here.
Also if you just look at Linux English got a 100% share, I assume if multiple languages are installed Steam counts English as well xD

Quoting: JarmerGOG has been languishing for years so maybe this’ll be the kick they need to make some forward progress. Like ummm I don’t know … releasing a Linux client. We can dream.
Quick reminder to anyone to vote for this: https://www.gog.com/wishlist/galaxy/release_the_gog_galaxy_client_for_linux [External Link]
In the past it was marked as in development, but they removed that blue label, let's bring it back!

Gaming is just so stable on Linux now. Absolutley mind-blowing progress from just, say, 10 years ago when it felt like you constantly had to add tinker lines to Steam's launch parameters, or use Glorious Eggrolls version to get things working.
I would say from even 3-5 years ago. Absolutely insane how much development each of the last years has brought us 🚀

Also very interesting that the "Language(Linux)" information seems to be wrong, with English sitting at 97.44% and Russian, German, Simplified Chinese all at >4% alone we have more than >100% of languages used on Linux.
I wonder if that is just an error on Valves side or maybe Valve is now counting all enabled languages for Linux systems (in that case values above 100% would obviously make sense).
