Quoting: F.UltraOr rather, not being able to uninstall the desktop would of course work but then we no longer can uninstall the desktop which removes the power that Linux gives you.I agree, but in Linux we have the freedom to choose whichever distribution we like. But distributions focused on average users should be "non-breakable" and thus maybe even limit your freedom. Personally I wouldn't like to use such a distribution but I would recommend such a distribution for the average user.

Quoting: TheSHEEEPStuff like that should be there for people who are interested in digging deeper, but should by no means be a requirement for the average user (unless you aim at techies as your average user).I actually think that Linux is quite good with real noobs but "bad" for above average computer users. I mean those users who download all sorts of software on Windows but at the same time don't know really how it all works. Linux distros should improve for those types of users.

So to me, that statement is not offending, it's just natural that for an outsider it looks very similiar and for fans there's "huge" differences.

Quoting: slaapliedjeHa, I'm fairly terrible at RTS games. Granted I also triggered some people in a discussion recently by saying most RTS games are pretty much a carbon copy of Dune II with different graphics slapped on. So many got all offended by that statement. Was kind of hilarious.Well I don't know Dune II but yes many Games in RTS are similiar. But I think that applies to every genre. Many Shooters are very similiar. Many Jump 'n' Runs are very similiar. It applies to all sorts of things in life. As soon as you are interested only then you see and value the differences. It's the same with Music for example. For non Rock listeners it all sounds the same for Fans there are huge differences. I could go on and on.

Final Fantasy XIV - Runs very well. There's some grind at the beginning, but after a few hours the story begins to unfold.

Quoting: ageresThese games distract me from playing Final Fantasy IX. It runs fine with Proton, but Moguri Mod (a mod with HD textures enhanced with machine learning) is glitchy, so I'm playing the unmodified version. It has some improvements upon the PS1 version, like speeding up the gameplay without speeding up the game timer - helpful for some mini-games.Final Fantasy 9 is one of my favourites. I played FF7 some weeks ago, and there are many patches too hd textures etc. It didn't work that well and I thought in some cases these AI upscaled textures look odd. So in the end I just played the unmodified version and it was totally worth it. So my tip to you is, don't think too much about all these modifications and just play the original.

Final Fantasy 7 for the first time ever, the original not the remake. Really a great game should have played it sooner. But I think I like FF IX and FF X still even more.

I think Valve will stream games in the future too and probably based on Linux. With it's huge audience that could be the thing to stress developers to port to Linux.

I hope the new SteamOS will be released together with a console like pc. But I think it's better to do that when Proton is in a even better shape.
