Regular users who've nothing to do with (or interest in petty political, or whatever it is, internet struggles) should not be punished by taking away the plugin. Who ever thought it's a right course of action made a thoughtless emotional based quick response mistake or is mad.
How about using some brain? Taking away assets from normal users? Why? These are the majority in this and just want a convenient tool. Because someone somewhere disagreed on something someone somewhere _might have_ said (all the conversations are are clearly not even there for all to see even) is just total boringness for any type of justification
Why not just take their kindergarten type fights some place else in a privatye whatsapp chat or whatever and leave the software out of it.

If these types of offerings would be the only chance to get into Linux "off the shelf" without the requirement to install, the situation would be bad.
What Valve did with Steam Deck cannot be overstated in service to Linux. And the price is just cool. Hell, you can even hook keyboard and mouse via bluettoht to that thing on a trip and work after gaming.

Quoting: blaeSlimbook is still just an ODM resellerWHich makes the price even more laughable if true. TUXEDO on the same page i assume. Are they greedy or what? OR this laptop business is currently not sustainable. I hear PC's sell less and less.

No average consumer has this kinds of money now and if some do, and want to try Linux with an out of the box machine then that Nividia might make it a bad experience at some point.

The base config on offer comes in at €1660once again nothing short of madness. And also with an Nvidia GPU which is a huge pain in Linux (driver update might bring black screen just like that) even today.

Honestly, these prices for more or less a *regular grade Linux laptops* are insane for this day and age. 16gb RAM for almost a 1000 bucks PC still. One could get 2 or 3 Steam Decks with similar amount of damn money.. All AMD is good though.

This "nothing is forever here" stuff you bring about was indeed just few years for Alan Wake I and Microsoft. We'll see what happens with AW2

Quoting: damarrinFrankly, whatever. Putting the game on Steam has nothing to do with Epic being or not being its publisher, they can publish it to Steam, too. The date the publishing contract expires doesn't have to be tied to Epic's exclusivity deal. The other dude said Epic wouldn't last long, which is clearly bollocks, as they have all the money in the world right now. Of course nothing is forever, it's hyperbole. They don't have "all the money in the world" and nevertheless that isn't guarantee for anything in the long run. I'm sure you have noticed how fast "empires" can come down nowadays in entertainment (Star Wars is in nothing short of trouble in TV-series and games alike canceled seasons and new game don't sell). Fortnite is pretty much Epig got and its getting old.

Maybe one day they start consider potential Linux customers first class customers and release the official client. Never bought anything from GOG during all these years because obviously they don't need our monys. And there is always Collection Chamber.

Microsoft Windows kernel changes don't suddenly mean big things for Linux gaming

Of course it is hard to believe right at this moment. Something is up; kernel level anti cheat is not the long lasting way. We'll see :woot:

don't suddenly mean big things for Linux gamingThat's the thing in any major possible change. This appears like a directional and approach change for sure.

If what you state is true, NO i won't be giving Epig monys. I mean, one can get this game for free as in beer anyways right now. Then supporting Remedy by buying Alan Wake III from Steam two or three times, just to get the message through, right.
Whatever the case; Epig is not going to last with this business model (and attitude) of theirs much longer. The truth is that AW2 would already have sold triple times more if no Epig exclusive. Steam has quite a volume and great sales.

Quoting: damarrinSo the contract for that is eternal, Epic getting cuts on all future purchases even, say, 5 years from now? Even further? Is that what you are saying?Quoting: dziadulewiczEpic published it, so you'll be giving them money regardless.Taking aim at Epic GamesGood! And please free Alan Wake II from your shackles EpiG so it can be available on Steam, then i'll buy from there. Won't give you epic pigs money ever.

Ubuntu 24.10 gets a new Snap feature to handle prompting for app permissions

Quoting: pleasereadthemanualFlatpak really needs this! It's good to see Canonical innovating with permission prompts, something sorely missing from Flatpaks.Exactly. Snaps and flatpaks are not going anywhere, they are absolutely needed in modern computing with better safety. Fixes after fixes both get better all the time. And ones complaining for some reason can still always use the old packages, so no need for hate at all in this area
