Anyone else also getting framerate drops sometime? I have a GTX 960 on steamos and getting an average of 60fps on high settings in the benchmark but for some reason sometimes the games really slow down for a few seconds ...

BioShock Infinite Released For Linux, Thanks To Virtual Programming
18 Mar 2015 at 8:48 am UTC

It's a matter of principle. I'm paying the same price as the windows guys so why will I accept to have a game wrapped in a shitty box with lower performances? If we accept this once then game developer will think that we are fine with this kind of ports and they will never bother giving us nicely Linux optimized games. Sorry but I'm not buying this.

I was planning to play this game with my windows friends. Unfortunately it seems that they are already done with it ... so I will probably just skip it ...

Speculation: BioShock Infinite Might Be an eON port
9 Dec 2014 at 7:27 am UTC

If this is an eOn port I will maybe buy the game when they firstly fix Witcher 2 which I bought and since then not been able to play it!!! And don't tell me it's not possible because of some driver issues, if Metro last Light, Portal 2, Borderlands 2, ... can do it why not this game?

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Linux Beta Due Soon! (UPDATED)
24 Sep 2014 at 4:35 am UTC

It's playable on intel HD4400, I'm getting arround 30fps (which is the strict minimum I think for this type of game) 1080p all settings to minimum.

If it wasn't for work this damn windows partition would have removed yesterday too ... ;-)

How To Build A Budget Steam Machine
18 Aug 2014 at 4:48 am UTC

What about the intel Pentium g3258? It's only a dual core but when pushed up to 4.5 Ghz it has been reported to keep up with an i7-4790k, most of the games are not yet properly multi-threaded anyways.

This will allow to go for a mini-itx motherboard and therefore the wonderful Silverstone Raven RVZ01 which has enough room for any graphics card (for a possible future upgrade). As for the hard-drive did you consider an sshd? for 25$ extra you get 1TB and more speed. Regarding the Graphics card I totally agree the gtx 750 ti is an awesome graphics card.

Here is my build (http://pcpartpicker.com/p/TWbGhM [External Link])

And great article btw ;)

A New The Witcher 2 Linux Beta Appears, Improved Performance
15 Aug 2014 at 7:45 pm UTC

Almost playable on my intel HD4400 800x600 all settings to minimum :D. Finger crossed for the "Major performance improvements are expected in the near future through the work of AMD and Intel driver developer teams." Anyway 4$ for a good game even very badly ported (Thanks eOn) is still a good deal, I'm just hopping that we will have a real portage for the third one ;)
