Pulstar Twin Stick Shooter Released On Steam For Linux
30 Jul 2014 at 6:09 am UTC

I think it's fair to add a comment about the quality of this game. It's got a metascore of less than 40, with reviewers saying that there's essentially three kind of enemies repeatedly attacking - and that's it. Period. You see the entire game in the trailer.

Sounds like another mobile phone port but it seems it's just released for PC. Either way, I think it's fair with a warning. I for one won't support these kind of releases despite them supporting Linux.

Quoting: AstroLinux community doesn't need other ports. We're completely disappointed in XCOM.
What kinda nonsense is this? Xcom:Enemy Unknown/Within is easily on my top 3 Linux games list so far, both in regards to the technical quality of the port and the actual game.
I think it may even hold the #1 spot - that game really is a mandatory buy for all Linux gamers!

... But are the mouse issues fixed? That was the gamebreaker for me.

Quoting: BeamboomIt's still unreal to me that the next UT is coming to Linux.
Even though that was the standard for the longest time...
I have in later years heard these claims, but I was never aware of this back in the days. I thought it was just the dedicated server that was available for Linux.

Was the client released for Linux at the same time, or later? And why are there no Linux version of the UTs in Steam Store?

It's still unreal to me that the next UT is coming to Linux. Will be the shooter event of the year for me. Easily.

Epic Games Helps Blender By Becoming A Sponsor

This is just wonderful. Luckily many of my favourite franchises are built on the Unreal engine, so Epic´s involvement in Linux is probably *the* most important Linux gaming factor for me, next after Valve.

And just like Valve, they are doing it the right way. This benefits the platform greatly, and far beyond the gaming sphere.

Lovin´it.

Any game on Linux I've not yet played that can show a metascore of 80+ is an obvious buy for me.

Among The Sleep Still Unplayable For A Lot Of Linux Users
10 Jul 2014 at 7:18 pm UTC

Seeing the standard on *most* games released for Linux today, there's not much reason to cut these guys a lot of slack. If a developer release an inferior version on, say, one of the console platforms, they are *slayed* in the media, amongst the gamers and everywhere.

The reasons for these issues are a deadly combo of using the Unity engine and not knowing this platform. They found this menu option in their Windows editor, "compile to Linux", and pressed play and hoped for the best.

Sorry, but that's just how it is.

The Witcher 2's Linux Version Has An Open Beta For Bug Fixes

Quoting: DrMcCoyThey said they can't replicate that bug, for some reason.
I got a strong suspicion that reason is because they don't even have a Linux box in their office.

As far as I recall it's a game built on Unity. They chose "compile -> Linux" in their menu and just assumed it would work.
That is what my gut feeling tells me.

Marvel Heroes 2015, A MMO Action RPG Looks Like It Is Coming To Linux

Marvel Heroes 2015 is just a patched up/relaunched version of the original Marvel Heroes where the devs tried to fix some of the glaring errors and mistakes. True, they have fixed some of the things they were criticized for but the core game is still the same.

You still can't create your own heroes from the ground up, you just build the skill set of the hero you choose in traditional rpg fashion - a skill set who more often than not is a copy-paste of another hero's set of skills just with different labels on them. And by the way, that's something that reminds me of how skills were in Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3, another a huge disappointment after the first two Ultimate Alliance games (who were pretty darn good).

If there is ONE topic that turns my heat up, it's the state of Marvel labelled games. Man, what a sad chapter that is. It looks like they believe the only ones that care about Marvel any more are kids and build their games with them as target audience - when in fact kids today barely know what Marvel *is* (or, was).

I wish I could blame Disney, but this started before they entered the arena. But Lord knows it's not become better after that.
