Indi Games can made Fun (ETS 2 as exemple).
But you must see this:
The most Gamer don't play Indi games. They play AAA Games.
I do not look the most indie games with my ass on and play rather AAA games.
Alone because of the graphic explosion that I have at most AAA games but decent gameplay is also important, too.
Tomb Raider
GTA III, VC, SA, IV, V (i don't have it, but want it if it have Linux support)
Mad Max
Lara Croft
Project Cars (and all other new Race Sims)
Killing Floor II
Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Series
SpellForce Series
Sniper Elite Series
S.T.A.L.K.E.R Series
Red Orchestra 2: Heroes of Stalingrad with Rising Storm
Hitman Series
Battlefield Series
All Codemasters Games
All EA Games
All Ubisoft Games
Those are the games that are important for the mass.

Quoting: supashangBut you don't understand Liam.Quoting: omer666....Quoting: supashangCase in point, how many people bought and played "Witcher 2", "Alien: Isolation" or "Shadow or Mordor" on Windows months/years before they arrived on Linux? I know I did.Well I am one of those guys who never had such thing as a "Windows partition", as I switched directly from Mac to Linux. So when I buy a Linux game nowadays, it's always the first time I play it. To me the OS is more important than game compatibility. But I know I'm an extraterrestrial :)
And this is not just a Linux problem, which is why I had to underscore my point to liamdawe since he seems hell bent on avoiding the truth that there is fun to be had in the indie scene too, whether he likes it or not over his XCOM hardon. He seems more happy arguing for AAA as the saviour of SteamOS/Boxes. Completely not what I am arguing against.

Quoting: liamdaweYes you are full to be right.Quoting: supashangI'm sorry, but people need to understand that AAA games does not mean "must have for best gaming experience". I've had more fun playing Indie games on my Linux steam library lately than I have on any AAA (except Skyrim) that I have in my AAA Windows library. I shouldn't need to mention how many AA titles have been a complete disaster after launch on Windows. Indie FTW.The problem here is what you're happy with, isn't what others are happy with.
Niche indie games won't push Steam Machines to be a major success, we do need the bigger AAA games. You may not think so, but all reviews so far have noted the lack of them as a downside, many users won't switch due to not having them available, etc.
You need to think outside of your own personal box.
Otherwise, we are destined to be the 1% forever.
Want To Be A Fisherman? Fishing Planet Is Planning A Linux Release

But i have seen a live stream and it's a good looking Simulator.

Quoting: inlinuxdude^^ This. Yes you are right.Quoting: maodzedunYeah, but in simulators you're actually doing something. In these games you're essentially doing nothing in front of a lit monitor. I don't know - I guess to each his own, but I won't get it in a million years.Have you ever been fishing in real life, sir? There is a whole ton of strategy involved (as well as some luck). The more you learn about fishing, and the more effectively you employ the strategies you learn, the more fish you will catch. It is almost like a real life vidya game in itself. So, not only can you replicate that on your electronic device, but if it is a good simulator, and can help teach and develop this myriad of strategies that can help one to become a better real life fisherman (or woman), as well as having a blast while playing the simulator.
But i have seen a live stream and it's a good looking Simulator.

And then you talk about freedom?
Why they don't support the opensource driver ? openGL is the reason.
And yes Nvidia have now at this time the better openGL drivers for gaming on Linux.
But i will wait on the AMDGPU drivers, to see if i can play on AMD Hardware in the future on Linux as i can today with Nvidia.

Quoting: MaelraneHmmm you don't will blame AMD but you blame a Porting House that's don't support AMD, because the Blob AMD Drivers are shity.Quoting: BdMdesigNI don't blame AMD, because I couldn't care less for Blobs. I run Linux not because of the money, but because of it's freedom. I know a lot of people see this differently, but I do (not) care.Quoting: Maelrane....Quoting: tuubiInteresting, as many have no problem with AMD, so I blame Feral and the FUD.Quoting: Maelrane......

The blob driver is shity and the opnsource driver are much better (only for AMD cards).
The blob driver from AMD is the reason why Feral don't can realy support AMD Cards.

Quoting: MaelraneNo you must blame AMD and his BLOB driver.Quoting: tuubiInteresting, as many have no problem with AMD, so I blame Feral and the FUD.Quoting: MaelraneI wonder whether this game will support AMD on Linux. I mean, it runs on both consoles...It doesn't run on OpenGL or AMD's Linux drivers on consoles. The lack of AMD support in Feral's ports isn't due to AMD's hardware being insufficient in any way. It's all about the software.
For example: CoH2: AMD not supported, runs like a charm on my old HD6950 with Mesa. I think they simply do not care at all. I guess they think the margin isn't worth the extra effort.

Valve Rep Confirms Why Some Games Have Their SteamOS Icon Removed

Quoting: Maelrane...Häääää???? You are wrong. read the bold text from you again. You need admin-rights to install any kind of software on Windows.
Of course, one difference is, that on Windows you could just tell the .exe that it needs to install that dependency, without having admin-rights or so... but that's the only difference I can think of spontaneously.

Valve Looks Like It's Removed The SteamOS Icon For Games That Work On Linux, But Not Perfectly On SteamOS

Quoting: slaapliedjeSo, was just playing with my Steam Link, looking for a game to play, and in the list of 'new things' it showed Microsoft Flight Simulator X Steam Edition, and oddly showed the icons for Windows / Apple / SteamOS and the controller at the bottom! So I tried clicking something to get it to show, but pressing A to select did nothing on the Steam Controller. Then I hit Y, which made it disappear (should have taken a picture). So then I shut the Link off, sat in front of my computer to look it up in the Steam library and it shows only the Windows Icon. It's a bug in the OS on the Link. It will be fixed, Valve sayed.
Glitch, or is Flight Simulator X coming to Linux/Mac?
