Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered may need a workaround on desktop Linux

Quoting: nebadon2025SteamDeck=1 %command%

is what worked for me on my desktop machine! I did not get to test above mentioned method because this one just worked.
I just wanted to update that while this method worked to fix the account linking problem, I got about 6 hours into the game and this SteamDeck=1 method started breaking my xbox controller and I could no longer progress in the game, switching to the method in the article I was able to continue on and everything has been fine again now.

You absolutely can add any executable to Heroic Launcher, i don't really have any games i play from CDs to test it, but it you can run it in wine, it can run in Heroic Launcher pretty much.

Quoting: Doktor-Mandrake

Quoting: sobkasSo does anyone know a good replacement for Lutris that isn't Heroic Games Launcher?
I jumped to Heroic a couple of months ago and it's a breath of fresh air. But if it's not for you, I suppose Arch Wiki has you covered. https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Gaming [External Link]

There's a section on launchers in there.

Edit - oh, and I just noticed that Liam covered another alternative earlier today!

Can you install and add games that aren't on any of those platforms? Iso's and cds ect

Does it have a mangohud toggle as well like lutris does?

I've never used anything other then lutris (then emulationstation for my main GUI) so abit unsure about the alternatives

This makes me less interested in playtron not more, i stopped using Lutris years ago, it will certainly be interesting to see where this all goes, but Playtron really is not something I am interested in much at this point, it still seems like pie in the sky to me. What I am worried about is when Playtron fails what happens to all these projects that anchored themselves to it.. it could potentially be really bad for Linux gaming.

NVIDIA 555.42.02 Beta driver out bringing Wayland explicit sync
21 May 2024 at 5:26 pm UTC

I just installed 555 Beta driver on Kubuntu 24.04 and nothing is changed for me, everything still flickers like crazy in wayland, in my first 20 minutes or so of using it, it feels worse than 550 and 545 drivers did, steam is flickering like crazy now.

EA anticheat arrives for Battlefield V in April, will break it on Linux / Steam Deck
4 Apr 2024 at 3:41 am UTC Likes: 2

Yea I just installed to test and its the EA Anticheat Installer that is failing, it detects wine and the game can not be launched until the installer runs, so this game is now effectively dead even for single player missions.

AYANEO NEXT LITE handheld announced with SteamOS Linux

Quoting: Boldos
Quoting: nebadon2025Is this an official partnership with valve for SteamOS or are they just making their own image and calling it SteamOS? I feel like if there is no official partnering with Valve on this that its probably not going to go as well as it could.
Well I keep thinking: if the device runs on a similar (or almost the same) hardware, would not SteamOS "just run" on it?
If the answer is "yes", then they might not even need to create their own modified image version, right?
Well the steamdeck is a custom SOC with custom power tables that are not the same as off the shelf AMD hardware, so I am not sure its that simple, there are likely many other differences as well, so its probably not going to just boot up properly as stuff like firmware will also be very different. Since the source code has never been released yet its hard to say what exactly valve is doing that would only be specific/relevant to the Steam Deck hardware.
