They most likely have Linux enthusiasts in the company, but the bean counters would not let them support Linux officially, because there is "no market" for it.

EA AntiCheat could spell trouble for Steam Deck / Linux

QuoteA worrying trend though, with more and more anti-cheat going kernel-side which is almost always developed just for Windows.
Just like most other malware. Ultimate goals may be slightly different, but the methods employed by these kernel-level anti-cheat systems are exactly the same as rootkits: take control of the system, hide its presence, prevent its removal, disable competing malware.

Steam Deck 2 is absolutely coming, new booklet from Valve confirms

While it technically may be true that they are continuing to do R&D on something that may eventually become Steam Deck 2, that can be many years away. This kind of stuff takes a long time to develop, and Valve tend to take their time.

What is more likely in the near future is that they will replace the existing models with a new generation of upgraded/tweaked hardware. I am talking about stuff like a different fan, or better buttons. Not a completely different device in a different form factor.

Quoting: LinasI wonder how can a game be Deck Verified and ProtonDB Silver at the same time? Like one of those are way off, and I would trust ProtonDB more at this point.
The Deck is a standard set piece of hardware and software, ProtonDB covers thousands of possible combinations of hardware and software.
Yes, that is a factor. But would there be any reason for something like video playback to work on the Deck, but not on regular Proton? Does Valve have any proprietary plugins that are not available on the desktop?

Quoting: Avehicle7887I see a similar thing in Dell laptops, different PCIe speeds and even different brands.
At work we use Alienware laptops basically as portable servers to take with you in the field. People started noticing that some of them perform better than others, and once we looked more closely, we found at least 4 different SSD models by 3 different manufacturers, even though it was supposed to be the same model.

What part of GNOME is used by Microsoft? Honest question.

I was wondering if it makes sense to buy all those weapon / costume bundles? Do they make any difference in the single player campaign?
