Quoting: Beamboom...I'm just worried about when we will start seeing fabricated submissions here, like the "user reviews" on Amazon & co. This is already the one major site for Linux gaming news (with barely any competition at all), and it's only a question of how big the platform must be before this open article submission will be (tried) exploited.

When that happens, we will know that we have won.

Quoting: BeamboomHmmm... Text advert?

It's a regular user writing a game-inspired short story, what's not to like.

Nothing. I always liked how open GOL is to user submissions.

Ori and the Blind Forest developer clarifies why a Linux port is up to Microsoft

I understand the developers. When you sign with somebody like Microsoft, they basically own you, and your firstborn child. It is not going to happen unless at some point they can get their IP back from Microsoft. It is not even about Microsoft somehow conspiring against Linux. If they could make a nice truckload of money from a Linux version, I am sure they would do it.

New Linux Gamer Survey For January
1 January 2016 at 9:25 pm UTC

Quoting: EikeNeed to share: I got the Steam survey today, for second or third time on Linux over the last about 3 years. BTW, anybody got the feeling as well that it tends to popup on the first of a month?

About once a year seems about right for me too. And yes, I got one today. Coincidence? Maybe. Where's a good conspiracy theorist when you need one? :)

Some thoughts on the Asus 4K PB287Q 28 inch monitor, with added radiation alarm

I run 3200x1800 on a 15" laptop screen, and it is amazing! The fonts are super crisp and it is a pleasure to read. GNOME Shell and GNOME apps in general scale perfectly, whereas others may need some tweaking. Firefox scales at startup, but needs to be restarted if you change the resolution (for example connect to a TV). Spotify has a command line scale parameter. Most others are usable if you just increase the font size. The worst is Steam, which does not scale at all, but since I got a Steam Controller, I am spending most of the time in Big Picture mode anyway. There is really no turning back for me.

Although I only game at 1920x1080 (same aspect ratio), because I cannot see much difference, and it is much less taxing on the graphics card. So for work, it is absolutely a must, but for gaming, I think I can safely wait at least a few years until 4K becomes the norm.

Quoting: Stupendous ManOh, one question: does anyone know if you can play split-screen mutliplayer? It would be a fun game to play locally with some friends.

Yes, you can.

Although it is not a casual game, so unless your friends are already good at racing games, they may have a hard time. I prefer DiRT Showdown for playing with my friends, because it is much more arcade and easier to get hang of, even though I think Grid Autosport is much better when playing by yourself.
