One dedicated gamer made a SteamOS tabletop 'car-cade' for DiRT Rally

Haha, that's so cute! It reminds me of the tiny plane and driving simulators I had and loved when I was a kid. They kind of looked like the 80s version of this:

Quoting: Xpanderi have the wheel set to 540 degrees with:

ltwheelconf --wheel DFGT --nativemode --range 540 --autocenter 0

and then from the game saturation is set to 90, to match the wheel
Works perfectly, thank you so much!

Quoting: edddeduck_feralWe worked with Fanatec to get full support for their wheels on Mac and Linux starting with F1 2017, this includes Force Feedback, LED shift support and speed details on the LED display if you have an F1 style wheel. As far as we know we're the only game developer to have full Linux support for these wheels right now so we're pretty excited to see what everyone thinks!
That is such great news! I've been meaning to purchase a Fanatec wheel (mainly because of how easy they can be disassembled), but I wouldn't pull the trigger on such an expensive setup before being basically 100% sure it would work on all my racing games.

I see your wheel is locked up nicely with the in-game wheel (i.e., turning angles seem to match). Does it also happen in F1 2015? My DFGT is not synced up so neatly on F1 2015 and I can't find a place to change this in-game. It doesn't bother me so much because steering still feels natural, but I'd still like to try and fix it.

Quoting: Krogash86Why so much racing and rts on Linux and no good fps or mmorpg games :(
Genre distribution in our platform is in great part determined by which developers/publishers become Linux-friendly. The Feral–Codemasters partnership seems to be strong, but Codemasters mostly publishes racing games. Firaxis (with the help of Aspyr), Paradox and SEGA have also been releasing most of their titles on Linux, but they are practically all strategy games. I am lucky enough to have these three cover almost all of my favorite games, but I see how someone with a different taste might feel underrepresented.

I am not a big fan of FPSs or MMORPGs, but I bet the most popular games in those genres have been developed and/or published by just a handful of companies. You wanna see more of those genres on Linux? Better hope those companies start realizing Linux gaming can be an interesting source of income.

Quoting: 1xokWell, I'm starting to think about a steering wheel. Recommendations?
I am a big fan of my Logitech Driving Force GT. You can get a used one for €/$ 50, which puts it at a few hundred bucks cheaper than a new G27 or 29. It's not as fancy, sure, but it works very well with all the Codemasters' ports. I can't think of a better first wheel.
I can back this up. Mine works well with pretty much any driving game I have. (still no force feedback on *Truck Simulator though, but can live without it)
Edwin released a package to enable Force Feedback on the Linux version of ETS2 (and ATS, I think). It worked well on my Ubuntu LTS machine, but only after some heavy tinkering with the Makefile. You can find the package and related discussion here:

Quoting: GuestI've been wanting to get Dirt Rally as well but I haven't been able to afford the $60 price tag. Even when it goes on sale I can't afford it lol.
DiRT Rally is 80% off on Steam until November 1st. Games very rarely get deeper discounts than that.

That's a sure purchase from me, but not right away. I might even buy it directly from the Feral Store, even though the lack of regional pricing makes it much more expensive than Steam for me. Anyway, thank you Feral for bringing F1 to Linux again even after the lackluster (albeit expected) sales of F1 2015, and congrats to the community for figuring out the Radar signal. So perhaps RotTR is next up? ^_^

Perform a live concert in Comedy Night, now on Linux

If you ask me, this looks much more like an online platform for comedians (amateur or not) to share their material than a videogame.
